Oh, dear, what to wear?

I know what Angie's wearing for Thanksgiving but I'm not sorted yet. I don't think I could survive in an cabled sweater either--it's much too warm here still. You convinced me to wear the sparkly poncho for another evening event--MIL's birthday dinner. I think it works--maybe looks a little shiny in the photo but I can swap out the foot wear if need be. Or, swap out the bottoms or top, for that matter (pic 1.)

For Thanksgiving, Diana's post in rachylou's thread gave me the dress with leggings idea (pic 2.) My other options are tunic tops with black or colored denim. I have green and burgundy. Do you have a preference? Should I go back to the drawing board?

Gosh, any of these are awesome. See what the weather is like and then choose based on that and your mood. You could probably eat more in a dress and leggings, just sayin'.

I think the black dress looks perfect for Thanksgiving.
The outfits in pic #3 look too casual to me. Although of course it depends how casual your family is.

You look great!! All the outfit are really fun, flattering and look wonderful on. I do love the sparkly poncho for MIL. I like to loads for t-day too. Are you cooking? If you are cooking, which I am, I run really hot in the kitchen, in which case I would think about anything dark to hide splatters and shorter on sleeves. If you are a guest then sparkly poncho or black cowl neck dress because I do love to look nice for the holiday. But you can't go wrong with any of the outfits they are all lovely just some a little more casual.

You can't go wrong with any of those, Kelly. For Thanksgiving I like the black dress in 2 and the first and second looks in 3. A pair of the colored denim might be fun for holiday ambiance though But, will your feet get hot in those Uggs boots? They have the fleece lining, don't they?

Kelly, I still love #1, but I get that you don't want to wear it twice, so I would vote for the black dress outfit, which also looks amazing.

I still like #1. I also like the first one in #3. The two outfits in #2 are throwing me off, the black (or grey) look very high contrast against the reddish browns here. Do you have a lighter color, maybe an ivory to pair with the reddish browns?

My family is very casual for Thanksgiving, and since I usually cook, I don't like to be in a dress. My vote goes for any of the outfits in #3, with my fav being the middle pic.

My answer is the same as Amy's: black dress and leggings outfit for T'giving, outfit #1 for birthday party. Those are such pretty looks on you! You look so fab in all of these, you could wear any of them, of course!

Thanks, Fabbers! I think I will proceed with the planned poncho/coated denim for the birthday and the dress/leggings for Thanksgiving. Your comments were very helpful. I haven’t worn leggings in quite a while so I wasn’t sure if either of them worked. I wore colored skinnies last holidays so I kind of wanted something different.

@Suz: It will be lots of the same people at both events so I didn’t want to repeat. I have such few occasions to dress up that I prefer not to repeat

@Lisa: Lol! That’s what I was wondering about. I lost the receipt for the leggings so I am trying to make them work. I’ve decided that one pair of leggings is more than enough for me.

@Parsley: We are a pretty casual family so I could get away easily with any of these. I think the dress is a good call though.

@gryffin: I’m cooking but I hope to be done with most of the messy stuff before the guest arrive and before I change. There’s still lots of reaching and serving and stuff to do (clean up too) so I should probably wear something washable, not too voluminous and not white!

@pil: Those Uggs aren’t fully lined and they also wipe clean pretty well. I’ll probably end up in my house slippers at some point Shh, don’t tell anyone!
