Officially on SYC for May

It's a birthday present for my husband. He's also getting an espresso maker, language cds, 4 seasons of the Simpsons, and more. So he's not doing so badly IMO.

I turned off ebay, MyHabit, Gilt, and HauteLook. We'll see how long I last without going into withdrawal.

Good luck! I find it's much easier to SYC with less temptation so you're off to a good start by turning off temping websites. I try to avoid catalogs too - I put them directly into the recycling without even opening them. The clothes will still be there when I'm ready to shop again.

Happy Birthday to your hubby. Sounds like he is going to be one happy guy.

Good luck with your SYC. You can do it. Definitely a good move to turn off the websites and remove temptation. Let your creative side take over, lol and enjoy the process.

Good luck, IK! I think one month is doable - and kind of a fun challenge. But longer than that gets hard (for me anyway). What a nice present!

EDIT: hunh, looks like I just spent May's budget plus $30 getting my interview capsule together, so I'm joining you unless a get a big pile of cash for my birthday lol.

Such a thoughtful gift, IK! Hang in there --- it's getting crowded in the SYC as well as the SYB boat this month from what I can see; but at least no one's burdened with rowing it alone on YLF!

That would be the best gift for my DH! Good luck with your SYC, and I agree that it is much easier without browsing the temptation. I always forget what Sara L. says, and that the clothes will still be there when I am ready to shop again. Rarely is shopping an urgent situation!
