Off with their heads... shots (picture posting)

In view of Glam on the Inside's post on feeling safe posting on the internet and the fact that many post pics without head shots or with blanked out faces/heads---
*****Do you find it harder to comment of people's outfits minus their heads (oh that just sounds weird and bad!!). Does it matter to you for making comments? ****
Many times I wish I could at least see their hair for a comment.
I'm thinking also since the site is getting more attention it may be something we see more and more--it's just what is done on other sites and forums---get your mind out of the gutter,I'm not talking about THOSE kind of sites hee hee hee doh! Even car sites block out license plates and owner's heads for security.

Well, your hair and face are part of your look, so I do think it's a little more difficult to comment.But I also understand people not wanting to show their face online, so I don't mind at all.

I admit I like to 'see' all of someone but I understand the need or desire for some privacy. I like Bella's solution of big dark sunglasses. I wear a pair sometimes for my shots where I'm not headless hee hee.

It's a dilemma. Personally, I get more freaked out when people "blur" the face. To me, it's like looking at an alien. Most likely a well dressed alien, but still, I find it very disconcerting. I love Bella's solution of wearing huge sunglasses.

However, I completely understand the concerns, and support whatever each individual feels comfortable with.

I totally appreciate when forum posters wear sunglasses rather than the head chop or blurred face. I can still see their haircolour and style, which are important to an outfit, and I can make a better assessment. The blurred face is the worst for me, even though I can still see the hair colour and style, the big circle over the face is so distracting and off-putting to me that I'm almost a bit insulted looking at the image. I don't mind the head chop at all, though I wish more people would end the photo right around the lower lip line - it allows your proportions to be displayed more accurately, and feels more like a store mannequin.

It's hard...I went from head chopped off to sunglasses with head showing for my WIWs. But I have no illusions that my identity is truly protected by some shades :). Each person has to do what they feel comfortable with, bottom line!

Angie used to crop her photos in just that way, Girl X - I really wish others would do that. Cropping the head off entirely, blurring the face or tipping your head forward (causing huge shadows on your front) are very distracting. I don't mind cropped at the jawline at all.

I'm fairly comfortable with my pictures being on the internet. If I wasn't, I wouldn't be on the internet at all. I prefer it when sunglasses are worn, or the head is turned to the side, which makes it harder to recognize someone.

I find it really difficult to give comments that I am confident about without seeing the heads. Faces, hairstyle, make-up make SUCH a difference! Therefore, I am less likely to comment on someone's outfit when I can't see their face - BUT I totally respect and understand their reasonings for not being comfortable showing their heads!
When I read the subject line of this thread I immediately thought of the song "Off With their Heads" by the Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs (I think!) Now I can't get it out of my head! (no pun intended!)

I prefer to see the whole person, although I am guilty of always leaving my head off! Sometimes reason is I style my hair and makeup after I am dressed and don't want a photo with wet hair. I think whatever people feel more comfortable with is great.

I do appreciate it when the poster shows her face even though I don't myself. I most always crop my photos, although I do try (if I remember!) to include my smile. I just feel more comfortable knowing that my face can't be identified on the internet. That said, I have shown my face a few times over the past year or so in candid shots when I was wearing sunglasses. For now, I will continue to remain in my comfort zone and crop my photos even if it does mean less feedback from the forum.

Oh, and that *is* me in my profile pic!

As someone who does not show my face in the pics, I do think it's easier to comment on a whole head-to-toe shot. Most often, the confident smile is what makes the outfit. The reason I don't, is partly due to my private nature, and partly due to the unknown nature of where the picture will float to. Not that I don't trust YLF family, it's just that once something gets on the internet, it's in the internet Abyss forever...
