Hubs kindly bid on the white puffer for me while I was at work - and we won it for $12 shipped! It is long, so I'd style with heels when wearing out to visit my dad and such, but I am keeping it. The listing didn't even show the hood in the picture, but I think it might be real fur...

The boots... well, hubs says they make me look fat and like I'm going to the Ren. Faire. But I kinda like them in the pictures... they are Ariat, and for you slim-calved ladies out there, I have them adjusted the widest they go and had to squeeeeeze my 14" calves inside. I'd say the boot circumference is about 13".

I still have burgundy ones showing up in the mail on Friday, so I can also keep these around to compare.

The white puffer looks good Rae and for $12??? You can't beat that price.

I like the boots - especially how they look with your trench. And they don't make you look fat. Are they comfortable?

Standing O for your Hubs, Rae! You look so cute and cozy in it and that's a great price. I love the boots and they somewhat remind me of my original BR canvas and leather boots that I still have and cherish. Every photo says "Keep" to me and I hope to see them in person, when it gets cold outside (maybe even the Puffer, too)!

Maybe it's the horizontal banding that makes hubby think they're widening? I think these look pretty good, quite rugged. Though I have to say I am holding out for the burgundy pair, I so so so hope those work The puffer looks great to me.

I also really like those boots. I am struggling to understand how boots can make one look fat I don't think they add to your lower leg, they look great.

I'm trying to figure out the fat thing, too. It's weird, because he likes me in flats over heels. Might be the flat foot combined with the shaft hitting at the widest part of my leg?

I am wearing them around the house, and they seem comfy so far. Thank you, ladies, for your eyes - I had thought they looked pretty good in the pics, too, not fattening.

Aida, I am also holding off on a final decision until the burgundy pair comes. I think those might look more "normal" to DH at least.

You are the first person ever to look slim in a long white puffer rather than the Pillsbury Dough Boy. The boots look like your style. I see no fat!!

I would never see boots as "fattening" nor have I EVER seen you look anything but lithe and slender!

But I don't love these for style reasons. (I realize I'm out there compared to everyone else so far). I think the crossed vertical and horizontal is reading blocky to my eye, and with the low heel, they do have a bit of a Ren Faire vibe (which can be very UWP, but is striking me here as a little more Hobbit than Elf).

The white puffer is totally fabulous. Hope you are better than me at keeping things white!

I do - in black they remind me of a Cole Haan pair from NAS last year. But the brown seems to be more the new Ralph Lauren vibe you were seeking. I don't dislike them, I just want to be sure I pointed out what concerned me. They do look great with the trench!

About the puffer, what. a. price! Wow, and good going, Mr. Rae! What Joy said pretty such sums up my aesthetic response: "You are the first person ever to look slim in a long white puffer rather than the Pillsbury Dough Boy."

Now the boots. Me, I love them. They look a little steampunk to me, and while I see the Renaissance Faire effect, I'm totally digging it. What does bother me a tad bit is it makes you look bottom-heavy (like gravity boots?) when you wear it with just jeans and a shirt --- you're so willowy, you look fragile compared to their sturdy ruggedness! BUT I love the effect when you add a rugged or 'weighty' topper --- my favourites are the trench (#5) and the jacket (#7), where they really seem to come together.

But I completely see Una's point that the black would be sleeker and way easier to incorporate in more outfits. So... were you *looking* for less sleek, more rugged? Or the lighter colour?

I love boots that contrast like that. I am saving up and going to get a canvas/leather pair at some point because I love the look so much. I like the ruggedness, but I agree with Manidipa that they can look unbalanced when you wear them with lighter clothing on your top half.

The puffer is a steal! Good find.

Boots are tough, aren't they! I have to say I really loved the boots with the trench. Seems like they could be a little harder to work with but if they fit and feel great that's something that usually wins me over because I have so much trouble with comfort. Good luck deciding. Score on the puffer,That was easy.

I am SO jealous of that $12 white puffer! I love white coats and this one is no exception. Wow. What a bargain, too.

On the boots, I'm wondering if the horizontal lines are what hubs thinks are making you look fat. Maybe he wants to see you in a sleeker flat boot? Would that work for your style?

Love those boots. But you have said before you won't keep things hubs doesn't like. So go for the black?
