OCD question about fringe

I love leather fringe, and I just received a lovely Rebecca Minkoff bag I found on sale at Nordstrom (this one but in ultraviolet):

However, all the fringe bags I've seen have this issue where the fringe twists around and doesn't hang straight. For a RATE UWP this shouldn't be a problem but something about it bothers me. I like my chaos organized!

Is this the charming fringe equivalent of making peace with the crease? Note the below pic is off in color - the hardware is really silver and the bag is a deep blue violet.

I love the bag and I think yes this is something that you may have to just live with. I can actually imagine the swishes of the neutral colour on the back of the fringe adding further interest and contributing to the RATE element.

What a great bag! I also love fringe and have 2 fringe jackets and a few bags with fringe (dating from the 60s and 70s). I have noticed the issue you are referring to with newer fringe. I look at it as part of the style. FWIW my fringe jacket from late 60s or early 70s does not do this. The fringe hangs straight. Draw your own conclusions.

Hmm, funny about the fringe on the vintage pieces that Style Fan mentions not doing the twist thing. Perhaps the leather nowadays is thinner? I suspect you may have to make peace with the effect.
I still think it looks good.

Diane G when I get home I will examine my vintage fringe jacket and my newer fringe jacket. I have always noticed the vintage one had thicker fringe and the suede was a different quality.

Yes, it would be interesting to know. Of course it may just be a foible of certain leathers.

Super cool bag! (coming from one that has a difficult time with fringes ever since my beloved Grandma had me try on her suede fringe jacket. I guess it would be an "it" piece today. She really had great style!)

"I like my chaos organized!" - lol, I totally agree. On the other side, I think you just have to be at ease with a touch of unorganized chaos when it comes to this bag. Very interesting what Style Fran says.

My spring bag is a MK which is deep purple...I love and adore the color for spring...I pretend it is neutral and use it with everything...Although the question you raised was about fringe...I answered with a solution for color..See you never know what you will get around here..smile...

I think suede is different because both sides are the same texture, right? Here the leather is smooth on one side and raw on the other. You can see it in the stock photos as well!

I woke up laughing at myself for posting this question! In the light of day the bag is so beautiful and I'll consider it my spring wild card. For under $100, it's my birthday present to myself this week! Thanks all for the reality check.

Love your new bag just as much as your "organized chaos" mindset, which any self-respecting RATE UWP would love and appreciate.

I have a fringed suede leather RL bag, with very long fringe, and I've never noticed it getting tangled up, so I have no explanation.

Love the purse and just think, if you'd bought the blue one, you could sing: "Tangled Up in Blue."

Fringe, I'm manic so I would love running my fingers to untangle it. I just bought a vintage white lace shawl duster with heavy fringe.
