Obsolete?

Are cold shoulder and/or leggings obsolete? My favorite consignment shop as several of each. Are people trying to get rid of these things?

I feel like leggings will never be obsolete, less trendy maybe. Less of the moment, but I feel like legging are now just so much a part of how we dress that they will always have a place.
Cold shoulder tops are something that I do think come and go, and I think they might not be on trend at the moment but if you love them, I’d keep wearing them

Neither is obsolete, Joy! All good and look great if you like the silhouettes and they work for you

Black leggings worn as pants have become classics, IMO. Agree with kkards.

Kkards said it. Cold shoulders are not "hot" right now, but leggings are still everywhere I look.

I have a cold shoulder dress I will wear this summer. I know they are no longer a trend but it does not bother me although I would not buy one now. Leggings are a classic I think but not trendy right now. I wear a zebra pair quite often and people like them.

I find what shows up in thrift shops quite interesting, and wonder about the story behind some of the garments. I was intrigued to learn that there are even trends for what people shop for at thrift and consignment, and this in turn informs street style - which goes on to inform design houses!

I am not buying any cold shouders. tops or dresses. I did find that they do well to cover aging arms. The one I have can have the shoulder hole sewn shut. I am also not buying any leggings although I still see them worn as pants! Awful look, especially if one can see though them to flowered briefs. I am still buying narrow trousers but taking it easy. They must be heavy fabric and full length winter pants.

Intereresting, Carla. I have seen lots of cold shoulders show up on consignment, especially dresses.

I don't think leggings are going anywhere! Still needed for the gym, and they're good for winter under boots.

Cold shoulder tops I saw everywhere before Covid, but now, not at all. To me they're seasonally confused. Plus they cause odd tan lines. If it's hot enough for bare shoulders, I want sleeveless to avoid sweat stains!
