I couldn’t finish the oldies but goodies challenge last week because we were on holiday (staying at home that is, during our second lockdown) and that came with its own requirements. But here’s my final three outfits and my own conclusions from doing this challenge.

Leopard print sweater dress (> 5 years old)
Here’s the thing about sweater dresses: they’re awfully difficult to wear in fresh ways. I tried with a collar layered under (which kept moving around), tried different shoes, tried it over straight leg jeans even (which felt really frumpy) … Then I turned to the internet and apparently sweater dresses are trending this fall and I should just keep wearing it as-is … but do I want to?

Classic black and white blazer (> 5 years old)
I still love this item but like all my blazers it doesn’t get worn enough, especially now. I suddenly noticed how the cognac (as well as the shorter style) might work with my pleated midi. Had to play around a lot though, to arrive at something I considered enough of a finished ‘look’ (sans shoes b/o lazy). What do you think? By the way I’ll definitely keep wearing this blazer over blouses and pants as a classic look from time to time – when I return to the office that is.

White sweater and blue shirt dress (both > 5 years old)
I had the most difficulty with these items because I feel I’ve worn the shirt dress every possible way since I got it, and I didn’t want to wear the white sweater in a plain pants + sweater outfit. This one is also harder to layer imo because of the boatneck. But in the end I put them together and actually liked the clean outfit with the horizontal lines of the sweater and the high-low hem. Tried it with white sneakers but liked the vibe of these Camper booties with them best. In fact this may be another favorite way to wear!

In conclusion: most of these will not likely become workhorses (again) but they do earn their place in my wardrobe. It clearly pays off to play around with outfits a bit more to find new combinations. Not just by holding the hangers together but by actually trying on different combinations even if many of those don’t work. I’m often too lazy for this but it’s obviously a better way to spend time then browsing webshops . So I think more challenges are in the stars!
