NYDJ Marilyn Wearers: What other jeans do you wear?

I need to find some new jeans brands/styles. The jeans in my wardrobe that fit me best are Democracy straight leg and NYDJ Marilyn. The Marilyn fits me really well and the quality of the denim seems quite good - not quite high end but good. The denim quality seems a bit lower in the Democracy ones. I do prefer just a bit of stretch.

So for those of you who wear NYDJ Marilyn, what other brands/styles work for you? (p.s. the Marilyns I have are all "tummy control" but that's more of a coincidence than by design)

I own the Marilyns in faux leather, coated, and medium wash denim and LOVE them. I also own two pairs of Kut from the Kloth in regular denim, which I also love, but maybe not in capital letters. Getting the right fit was more of a challenge.

I have Loft and Maeve jeans, and they're perfectly fine, but I bought them because I liked the color.

I just ordered another pair of Kuts because I am a fool for a side stripe. We'll see.

Like Jag and Kut from the cloth in addition to my tried and true Levis

My jeans (all 4 pairs!) are equally divided between NYDJ and Kut from the Kloth - they seem to suit my apple-ish shape the best. I do find myself gravitating towards other pants instead of jeans, with my most successful brands Maeve, JCrew, Banana Republic, and (still) NYDJ and Kut. Hope that helps!

I’ve had a few NYDJ in the past but can’t remember style names . I find Jag a good fit for me and it does similar things to what NYDJ does ( bit of control and stretch ) . Plus they are about half the price of NYDJ and a bit more contemporary in styling too .

I've had lots of Marilyn jeans in the last few years, mainly blue denim but also in other colors. I really like Joe's Jeans but have never paid full price for them--either get them on NAS or at the Rack or anywhere else I can find them on sale. I used to wear Kut, but haven't bought any for a while. Once in a while I buy Chico's, mostly because a friend gives me a gift card now and then.

Thanks Roberta ... I've seen your coated ones in a few postings and they are truly fab! I've had Loft in the past but haven't been thrilled with their quality but should give them a look again. Haven't tried Maeve and Anthro is mostly still doing high rises (I need mid rise) but I should take a look.

Roberta, indigoprint, Pat_P thanks for the reminder about Kut ... I had some a few years ago, lost weight and got rid of them, and then forgot the brand! Back on my list it goes.

indigoprint, thanks I will have look at Jag and I don't know why I didn't think of Levis - they are a go to for me for denim bermudas.

Thanks Pat_P ... in the past I've found that jcrew and Banana Republic pants/jeans do not fit me right but maybe I need to try again once
they get off the high rise bandwagon.

MsMaven thanks for the idea of Joe's jeans. I have one pair that is labelled "Joes" but I think they must be a knock-off becuase the fabric isn't that great. Chicos is NOT on my radar, there is something about that brand that just puts me off esthetically, can't figure it out

Another vote for Liverpool jeans. I've also had good luck with Pilcro and the Letterpress jeans.

I have these Marilyns, but my jeans brands seem to be all over the map. I buy and return a LOT because sizing is not consistent and I have a devil of a time getting a proper seat fit. I have had luck with anything from BP to Madewell to Levi's to Caslon. Nothing premium except the Tsubo, and they were extremely discounted. (See my Finds. The first two that come up haven't yet been delivered; the Levi's are my third try since they seem to run extraordinarily small. I have also passed on a few.) As you may recall, I'm 5' 1" so short like you. Thus, the ankle pants are full length on me. Plus, I think I've sized up on a number so the ones labeled skinny really aren't.

I kiss a lot of frogs and never expect to find a prince, even in brands and cuts that have worked previously. Slightly different fabrications or country of manufacture can make all the difference in the world. Plus, as I age I think my seat gets flatter which presents increasing fit challenges.

I had one pair of NYDJ Chris with the “tummy control”, not sure which style- I am also short like you and Donna so had to hem them as they were not “cropped”- I like cropped pants being full length on me!
I edited them out after 30 wears as despite making me look good they weren’t that comfortable- sort of dug in to my midsection and I decided it wasn’t worth it.
Overall I like elastic waist pull-on pants I have decided.

Most of my jeans are EF (3 pair) I also have one pair NYDJ and one Kut. 1 have one Lucky pair that I can sometimes wear with a belt

Thanks Nuancedream. I've started wading through the pilcro possibilites and there are one or two that are mid rise and not wide leg ...
DonnaF I feel your pain! With me the fit issue is rise low enough yet enough room in the thighs and butt. You are quite a bit slimmer than me so your fit issues are of course different. I've been hemming jeans all my life so that's no issue for me. You make an excellent point about
brands/styles being inconsistent over time or fitting differenly based on fabric choice etc. I'm with you on "good enough" is ok. (Don't need a "prince" as you say). I guess I should give Madewell a try
although the stores I've been in lately are still ONLY high rise.. They may have more options online.

Jenni nz I've got a few pair of pull-on Ponte pants but for jeans I really want a more traditional style with a zipper and waistband.

Thanks Joy. I've totally given up on EF ... nothing they make fits me OR appeals to me. But Lucky is another brand that has worked for me in the past ... thanks for that memory-trigger.

NYDJ has worked for me- also had luck with Liverpool, Chicos, Loft Modern fit, and Lysse.
