It was a truly fabulous week in NYC. My husband and I had a great getaway to celebrate the sale of the ranch, have some chill time when we didn’t have to cook, clean, or take care of any animals, etc. Plus, we got to shop for basically a new wardrobe for him because all his ranch clothes are trashed, and his last big deliberate wardrobe update was well over a decade ago when he was working in corporate America. So he was due for a new smart casual wardrobe!

We mainly shopped in Soho and the Bowery. We got him fully outfitted with new pants (AG), tees, shirts and fashion hoodies (John Varvatos, Play by Comme does Garçons, etc), some lightweight sweaters (Belstaff, Canada Goose), a new lightweight puffer (CG), a couple of fabulous lightweight smart casual jackets that fill the wardrobe hole between sport coats and gear (Varvatos), and even a new belt, baseball cap, socks, and winter gloves. The only thing we didn’t get him was shoes, but he got himself a new pair of fashion sneakers and a new pair of really good walking shoes before the trip.

He is a difficult fit in nearly everything (6’6” tall and narrow, with a 13.5 wide shoe size), so we really scored! We have learned over the years which designers cut for his build, plus we made some nice new discoveries.

I came home with some new things too:

Pic 1 Comme des Garçons striped tee (in the fitting room with the black skirt and silver sneakers I was wearing that day with a white windowpane check gauzy shirt).

Pic 2 Stella McCartney silver sneakers - hubs fully supported the purchase of these even though I have silver sneakers! He noticed I am wearing the current ones a lot and thought I need more than one pair. !! They are super cool and I really enjoy them, but I need to break them in a bit. Wore them out of the store on the first day with not quite the right socks and walked too much. I’m working my way up to a full day of wear!

Pic 3-4 My fashionable photo bomber and I, with my new wardrobe pet. I call her Stella. Three guesses where we got her! I wore her every day of the trip after we got it.

Pic 5 - These jeans at 7FAM are a variation on the Dojo cut that works so well for me. It’s called the Jo and it’s a wider leg, more of a trouser style, something I have been craving. The waist is slightly high but within my comfort range. Despite the SA urging me to go with this size, these felt a bit too snug and I decided I would be more comfortable one size up, so we ordered them to ship to our house.
