We just got home from a few days in NYC. It’s actually a year-long delay since we planned to go at the holidays last year but we had a house fire and had to cancel!

The only bad thing was that I got really sick the first night we were there (I suspect a bad shrimp taco) and spent the first full day in bed recovering. I hadn’t had a stomach “event” like that in well over 20 years, so I’m grateful it didn’t last longer. It also meant I had to miss “Titanique” (a musical comedy send-up of Titanic, with the story told from the viewpoint of Celine Dion) — my husband said it was hilarious!

I did, however, get to enjoy a really fun magic/illusion show the following night, and then a performance of “Hamilton” — and now I totally get the hype! It was a great show. The story (based on Ron Chernow’s excellent biography of Hamilton), the performances, the music…all soooo good!

We did a little shopping too. Found a great dark plum cashmere sweater for my husband at COS, and he found himself an amazing reversible jacket too.

At Rag & Bone, he nudged me to get these fab boots and sweater in pics 1-2, which I promptly wore the next day to Hamilton. The sweater is heavy to hold, but miraculously comfortable to wear, and I walked over four miles in the boots, which I find impressive for a first wearing.

I tried on the cobalt cashmere hoodie in pic 3 at Me + Em, and I really like it, but balk at the price. I will continue to ponder (and maybe sale stalk?). I adore the burgundy side stripe pants there too, and the other touches of cobalt in the store (pics 4-6).

Also tempting were these loafers at Freda Salvador and the green shirt at Zero + Maria Cornejo (pics 7-8).

The rest are other random pics from around the city. #11 was the charming display and changing rooms at Farm Rio.
