NYC purchases: a vest and a (deconstructed? frayed?) tweed blazer

It was a little rainy in NYC last Friday, so my shopping day was shorter than usual...but I still managed to find two great pieces. I've been looking all fall for a deconstructed (not sure if that's how you describe a blazer with frayed cuffs/hem) tweed blazer that wasn't too corporate, and I found a great one at Club Monaco. I've also been wanting a casual winter vest for several years now, and I found one at JCrew. Plus, both items were on sale!

Great scores, Nancy. I particularly like the jacket. That zipper detailing is so fun. My fuchsia knit one from H&M has zip pockets like that and I really like them. I also like the shape of that one...it is so tempting I am going to look it up online! The cropped fit is great, although it wouldn't be as cropped on me, alas....

The vest is great, too!

Thanks Suz and Shannon. I'm so glad I didn't "settle" for some of the tweed jackets I tried on earlier this fall.

Suz, I looked for this jacket online at Club Monaco but couldn't find it.....thus prompting me to post an Ask Angie about how retailers decide what is sold online vs. in stores.

I love the blazer. It is perfect on you, interesting, stylish yet classic like you. It seems to fit perfectly.

I like the vest as well, although not as much as the jacket. However this could be a question of styling. I see this with a black crew neck top or turtleneck, the bottoms could be the jeans you're wearing or black jeans/pants. Then I'd add a colorful bag or bangles to brighten up the look. The vest is complex so to me the under layer needs to be minimal and subdued.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE that A/W items start going on sale as early as November 1st (Nordstrom for example). I can't really wear autumnal/wintery things until mid-November anyways.
