NYC - Italian restaurant recommendations

Hi all. Hubby and I are heading to NYC this weekend for our annual 5 Boro Bike Tour. One of our favorite small Italian restaurants is booked solid that Sunday (after a 40 mile ride) and was hoping someone could give us a good Italian restaurant recommendation, preferably in Greenwich Village or Nolita area, less touristy the better. I'm also open to other parts of the city as well.

Also, vegetarian friendly is good as DH is a vegetarian (no fish though)

I'm not big on restaurants but if you want a great bakery go to Rocco's in the Village.
I know you will need a good meal after the tour, I hope you will get a recommendation for a restaurant.
Sometimes we go to the Italian restaurant on Bleecker one block west of Sixth Ave. Rocco's is on the next block on Bleecker across the street. We think their food is good but maybe you like something better? Sorry that I don't renember the restaurant's name.
The restaurant that you mention must be very good. Can you share the name?
