My parents are fine, thanks. They have a houseguest (my 13 y/o niece who's home is still w/out power or water).
My inlaws have now been w/out power for a week. They live one town over from me, and that town's electrical company has had their head's up their butts thru this entire ordeal. My friend's lent my inlaws their generator, and they have gas heat and hot water and 2 gas fireplaces and a gas stove. So, they are doing okay, but other people are not as lucky.
My family (extended and otherwise) have been incredibly lucky. No one had any major damage to their homes, cars or property. We all lost a lot of trees, but that's about the extent of it. Some people had trees crashing thru their roofs and their homes are uninhabitable. It's strange driving around and seeing the destruction. Just about every tree you see has it's top ripped off, and just about every yard has 12 foot high piles of branches on the curb waiting to be picked up. Some towns are not going to have their power back on til after Christmas. It's just crazy. It's all everyone is talking about. My kids had 1 day of school this week. They called a 3 hour early dismissal today because we are supposed to be getting a foot of snow starting at 10 am. I decided to just keep them home. I don't see the point in sending them in for 3 hours, and worrying about the condition of the roads at 1130.
