Nuklear pearls, wear them or display them?

Hi ,
I bought these pearls at BR recently right off of a display manequin.
They had a price tag on them so they were "for sale not just display" but wow are they big.
I am wondering what your thoughts about if ,an how
you would wear them or do they just look good on display?
I have included a picture show both options.

Remember I am 52, I have a great sense of humor,but maybe they are just for Halloween?
I just could not resist the color and they were only $36.

I think Angie said "for the catwalk only" about these pearls. I don't mind them so much myself, but they're certainly not for everyday use. When I saw them in the store, they were used as a dramatic statement piece with cocktail attire. I couldn't wear them personally because I am too petite, but you don't seem to have that issue.

The way you are wearing them bothers me not because of what you're wearing but how you're wearing it. I don't think a short necklace really looks right over the turtleneck. It seems to interrupt the verticality. I'd rather see them on an open neckline.

I think they have a lot of potential but I agree with Maya think they would look good keeping your top half very simple then the pearls are the focus. Pehaps a plain round/ v neck t shirt, do you have 1 you could try it with then post a photo for us to see? x

I think that they are a bit much, especially with the contrast in your sweater which looks great, btw. Somehow your small features and light coloring do not balance with those size pearls, but I do not know whose would. They look great as a display and maybe would work with a plain shift or wrap dress with open neck? Why not give it a try?

I like them! I can see them working with your pencil skirt (that you posted in another thread), a white button down or white wrap shirt with collar. Definitely open neck is the way to go and the collar is the way to balance the size of the pearls.

Kellee, you look fantastic and I hope I look half as good as you do when I hit my 50s.

I saw these pearls in the store awhile back. When I read your post I expected I wouldn't like the pearls - but then I opened the pic and I was pleasantly surprised. I really like them on you - and I like them with this outfit you've chosen. I like how they stand out on the black turtleneck.

Yes, they are ultra-dramatic and whimsical but .... why not? I think you pull it off well.

I actually really like them (I like dramatic and extreme pieces when worn well) and I like the other ideas of how to wear them. I think they might work with this turtleneck if you took off the cardigan. And they'd be great with a black shift dress.

Hi Kellee, I have seen that necklace in reality and it is gorgeous, though it was too intimidating for me.

You have already been given some great suggestions. One more similar one would be to try them with a very simple black fitted shirt, dark jeans and some killer pumps.

Kellee - I agree with Shiny - you look fantastic and it's hard to believe that you're 52! These look good on you. I would choose the occasion carefully and make sure you don't have any other statement pieces on when you wear them. I also really like the suggestion of trying with a collared shirt so that it can tone them down a bit. And I have the same polka dotted AT cardi which I love. Sadly it has started to pill even before the first wash and I can't return it since I bought it on final sale. Good news is that I bought it on final sale so I paid the least it went for.

I would wear with a collar shirt & keep the other pieces simple. Beautiful!! Although I do love your display pic- too fun!

It really is more of a challenge working on what your personal style is, once you go over 50. Especially now that I want to be more stylish since finding YLF.

Sihaya, I also bought the sweater on final sale. I have not had much luck with AT and the quality of their fabric. I am sorry to hear that it is not even making it to the first wash! But we were smart to buy it when we did, and you are right the price makes it easier to not be as disappointed. Still ,not making it until one wash ,ouch!

I loved the pattern. I am working on building patterns/textures into my wardrobe. I think this may be an interesting way for me to go as I play on the other side of the age fence

I am going see how it works with a collar shirt . I will post a picture. And I agree the piece is a party all by itself.
Anyhow,I do know how I will store it! I am glad you liked the display pic. I grin just about every time I see it. It makes me want to "do lunch" somewhere .LOL

love them! i fell in love with them back in october when i was at BR, and they've been on my xmas/bday list ever since! I didn't get them for xmas (despite being my absolute #1 item! but i did get them this weekend as an early bday present.

I asked for the white ones since i plan to wear them next yr for my wedding, but i may just go and get the silver ones if they're still available in stores!

I adore big statement necklaces and this one certainly makes a statement! i will probably be wearing mine with v-neck sweaters or collared-shirts. definitely will keep the rest of the outfit relatively sedated and no other accessories!

I got a little teary eyed when I read that you are going to wear them for your wedding( I am such a sap).
