Adelfa :: that is an interesting turn of events and cultural norms from one generation to another. I remember one of my mum's friends who told us when she was young she used to go to ballroom dance parties. All ladies had to wear sheer tights, so to get around it as they were quite expensive she used to draw a line at the back of her legs with an eyeliner so it loked like she wore sheer tights with back seam. Barelegged look was not allowed. It stuck with me, both the convention and her solution for it.
anne :: I think in this case nudes made the look because they showed the legs more, thus creating visual interest, than more commonly seen option in recent years of dark hose. That's at least how I had interpreted the comment above.
Mander :: I am completely with you. For me as well barelegged look in business context was unacceptable (as far my dressing was concerned). I remember reading once an interview with a lady who was PA in one corporation and she mentioned specifically that even in the summer she wore nude hose because it was unacceptable in her environment not to. maybe it is European thing, I really don't know, but I never really noticed them being "out".
