Cropped flares. Cropped jeans.

Cardigans-- they are easy to find/fit and I already have so many, it would be better to spend my shopping energy and budget elsewhere.

(Narrator voice: She is going to buy more cardigans.)

I wanted to add that right now my entire wardrobe of bottoms are cropped or ankle pants. This is a silhouette that won't take me through the year. I do not need any more cropped pants.

I'm another who needs to stop buying the classic cardigan. They don't flatter the body I have now, yet when I see a nice one on sale I grab it.

Socks. It's strange, but my sock drawer is full, but I wear them less and less. I bought three pairs of patterned socks at Disney World. Really? A few weeks ago I purged another drawer full of pantyhose, most not worn for years and years.

I probably have too many jeans and have few regular pants.

I should really halt the denim jackets, jewelry, shoes & purses. I am *trying* to purchase nothing but undergarments until November. Emphasis on trying!

1. Blazers. Love them but no room in my actual life to wear them, so the 6 or so I already have rarely get worn.

2. Jeans. I have 8 pairs including coloured and floral. They are too cold in winter and too hot in summer. And they ONLY get worn on some Saturdays in between.

3. Pencil skirts/tube skirts at or above the knee. I have enough.

4. High heeled shoes.

3 weeks ago, I would've said, "No white jeans! Don't need them. Don't want them. Have never found a pair that looked or felt good." Then, I did. **sigh**

So, I'll say JEWELRY. Enough!

~black jeans ---bought one pair...don't really wear them
~more white jeans --1 own 4 pairs don't need any more
~non athletic sneakers--unless of course i find the perfect white leather pair......

What is Flytigress? Too lazy to Google while relaxing with first morning coffee on Saturday. I'm a bit unwell too ( winter virus) but hope to start in on a closet clear out a bit today.
No more heeled shoes or boots. This is very difficult, so many gorgeous ones out of contention. But I just hardly put them on, such a waste.
No more skirts! I now own 5 winter and 3 summer ones, and the highest number of wears is only 7. That's for a 2011 skirt! So once a year?!

Jenni, I’m impressed that you are tracking so precisely for so long. I admit to being perplexed why you are keeping them if you’re only wearing them annually. I’m usually in favor of keeping things whenever possible, but I’m also in favor of simplifying choices, and it seems like you need either fewer skirts or more coordinating garments for the skirts. Or something else, like adding or subtracting something to the skirts to make them more wearable, such as pockets, extra hooks, etc...

Jenni -- Flytigress is a poster on page 1 of this thread.

Thanks Sterling. I have been enlightened in a PM by a kind forum member. Sorry to be clueless down the other end of the world here.
3style, mainly issues with "sunk cost" and also "in case I need them". I have other things to clear before the skirts. I did have more and have ditched some ( "edited", as Angie would say).
I think it's a psychological problem. I need Staysfit!

No more tops that I can't wear a topper over- too restricted!

LOL! Jenni NZ, may I travel to NZ to help you? I would pay for my ticket using the money I save avoiding stripes.

I’m adding cashmere sweaters to my list. I chopped my huge collection by almost half and want to keep it that way. I do love cashmere though......

I'm with you, Staysfit, in not buying open weave sweaters. If I just THINK about them catching and snagging on something, they do. I'm also not allowed to buy tops which are in any way related to tee shirts for a while. I have too many of those in proportion to my other tops.

Work clothing that I would not wear for non-work activities. I only go into an office (which isn’t formal) once a week and go to administrative hearings maybe twice a week. What I have should see me through until I retire. Blazers (vs. other style jackets) are aspirational for me versus something I will actually wear.

-Breton tops. I love them, but I have enough to open my own store. Whenever I want to try a new online retailer, I "test" by ordering yet another Breton top. Enough.
- Black summer tops. I don't wear them, no matter how beautiful or flattering they might be, I can't stand them in the heat. I wear them occasionally for a night out, but I don't need more of them.
- Clothing that is one size too small because "I will lose weight and it will fit perfectly". I am getting better at this, but a reminder doesn't hurt.
- Occasion wear. I have more pieces than I actually need, and don't wear them that often.

In 2017, my New Years Resolution was no more cheap shoes. I live in a hot climate, and wear sandals maybe 9-10 months a year. There are so many cute cute cheap sandals around, and I was getting sucked in far too often. It's not good to buy too much cheap stuff of questionable origins, nor is it good for my feet. So I have not bought a cheap pair of shoes since. My feet feel so much better!

No more shift dresses or types of dresses without a waist. They are extremely dumpy looking on me!

No more jeans for the time being. I already have several pairs that I love, and I think it's time to funnel money into something quite different, such as wide-leg pants or culottes. But it's hard not to be tempted by all the different jeans offerings right now!

No more black ankle pants. I already have two pairs, and they get worn enough. I really don't need a third pair.

Staysfit, thanks for the great thread - much needed.

I am not allowed to buy grey handbags regardless shape, level of clearance and brand - currently own five large grey bags in similar light grey colours (how silly is that?). Also brown satchels should be on this list.

Cotton shirts - like the idea of a white cotton shirt but never use those I have any more. Prefer more fluid fabrics.

Jackets for spring or autumn - love them, love to wear them and to buy them - so I have a nice collection, but due to the changing climate, there are relatively few days such jackets work any more.

Now, I should write “scarves”. I have a huge collection (ridiculously huge actually). But it will not happen - I know I will get more scarves if I see any bargains or treasures...:-)

@Staysfit - I think you and I are probably similar.

Just say NO to:
- blazers. I love them and I wear them but I probably have around 30 (not to mention the one bought this week - ack!)

- leather jackets. I think I have 8. That's enough. (Even though I love them)

- cashmere sweaters

- shawls and scarves

- casual dresses. I've had a pretty good haul this year.

Any clothing pieces (not including scarves) with a pattern. I will not wear it. I only wear solid coloured pieces. Occasionally, stripes are okay. (one jacket) I need to constantly remind myself of this.

Tops that are oversized. They look sloppy on me.

@Roxanna, LOL! Yes, and the last few days I have been assessing my wardrobe in preparation for fall shopping. I have found a few more things to add to my list. Fuschia dresses!! How many are too many? Why would anyone need to ask that question? I think I wear fuschia when other people choose black. I have 6 fuschia dresses! Ha Ha! I have an entire fuschia dress capsule wardrobe!

There are certain items I apparently gravitate to that I may never need to purchase again....
1. Blue and white vertical striped shirts and dresses, really, I have 3-4 of them, but I think 1-2 would be enough.
2. Fuschia dresses of any level of formality. (I wear most of these dresses, but do I really need 6?)
3. Long grey cardigans. (I wear them though, so maybe they’re just part of my uniform).
4. Plain white cotton tank tops and turtlenecks.

1, Tops with fussy sleeves, which seem to be all the stores are selling these days. I have a couple, and they look cute, but the sleeves get in the way and are hard to fit toppers over.

2. Skirts. I just don't wear them.

3. Any shoes that are hard to walk in. Walking is part of my commute so they don't fit my lifestyle.
