Not used to wovens -- what to do with tuxedo shirts?

I can't post pics b/c my camera isn't working, but I will provide a link to a blouse similar to the 2 I bought from JCrew over a month ago.

I bought white and dark charcoal-slate tuxedo blouses that look very similar to the one above -- great sale and I wanted to own a tux blouse, at least in theory. Mine doesn't have the tuxedo ruffles on the shoulder, just on the bib and a ruffled collar (no lace on it). Problem is I haven't worn them yet. I have a-line and flared skirts and straight-leg or wider-leg trousers, because I am very pear right now. I think these blouses would look good with a pencil skirt, but I don't like how I fit pencil skirts (can I exaggerate the hipline any more?). I can't seem to find any bottoms that I own that I really like with these blouses, except for a charcoal pant and a black denim. Would a flare skirt work with this blouse? I am having so much trouble getting dressed in my heavier figure. Any help would be appreciated.

That looks really cute! How long are the ones you bought? I am also a pear. I'm wondering if maybe you just haven't found the right pencil skirt yet--keep looking! I would also try the tux shirt with either flared trousers or skinnies depending on how long it is.

A-line skirts, straight and wider legged trousers should look great with a tuxedo blouse. I think it can work with a flared skirt as well, but it's a trickier look to get right. Your other options sound much easier to work with.

Thanks ladies! Melissa, my shirts come down to hip length (cover most of my butt). My skirts are to the knee or just below the knee for a-lines and flares. I don't own skinnies right now b/c I don't find them flattering (but I have worn them when slimmer).
Another question: tuck in or leave out shirts? I think I'm just not used to the woven shirts idea.

Also, what in particular to wear the darker tux shirt with (without going all dark head to toe)?

Hm, I think a lot would go with those, from looking at the pic! Solid colored skirts without much detail, simple shorts of any color, straight or wide legs as Girl X mentioned... The charcoal might look fresh with white bottoms, too.

Pictures are always the best, but in my mind's eye, these shirts would work with a flared skirt, if they are tucked in. Considering their length, I think the look will be too voluminous and could appear sloppy if it is worn outside of an a-like skirt. If you belt the shirt and wear it untucked, that might work better, but I think it would depend. When I wear a woven untucked with a flared skirt, I never feel it looks right unless the shirt is close-fitting and shorter.

If you aren't happy with the shirts with any of your skirts, maybe just stick to wearing it with those two pairs of pants right now, until you find a skirt you feel pairs well with it.

Rae, I like your suggestions, but I won't be wearing shorts (you however look darling in shorts). I need to get some brighter colored pants. My pants are dark neutrals b/c I don't like to enhance my lower half, especially right now when overweight.

Steph, I will try to post pics b/c I do see the value of them in assessing wardrobe questions. With my dark grey shirt and charcoal pants or black denim, I feel like I'm doing a Johnny Cash "man in black" look, and I'm not sure that's how I want to look.
