Not urgent - Duo boot fit issue?

Still testing them out in the office.... My husband kindly pointed out that he doesn't know much about boot fit, but that these looked loose in the ankle. And they are! See photos, including me immodestly hiking up my skirt with the ball chair behind me. This looks terrible, yes? They seemed better yesterday, but I only had them on long enough for photos.

I can see it, but it doesn't bug me. Then again I'm not super picky about boot fit. It has to give somewhat at the ankle, otherwise you wouldn't be able to walk.

For you, with your style, I don't mind it; those of us with small ankles are pretty much always going to have to deal with this, I think :\ I think all of my boots do this.

I didn't get a chance to comment on your first thread with these, but that bagging was the first thing I noticed. In fact, that's why I didn't comment right away.. I had to ponder whether or not that bugged me.

Still not sure...

Ok, I have to admit that I noticed the ankle bagginess on your earlier post but didn't say anything because most people on the forum seem to not see it as an issue.

It really depends on how picky you want to be - just like some people can handle waist surrendering/imperfect PPL and others can't. It is next to impossible to find boots that have a tapered ankle and fit ones calves.

Of my four pairs of knee highs, two are fitted at the ankle and two are baggy. The baggier pairs are good for providing a RATE look when worn with skirts. For a sleek, ultra polished look, I fall on the side of fitted ankles.

I noticed it in your other post but I don't mind it. Many boots do this. IMO, it gives them an edgier, rock n roll look. Plus, unless it is thin, super soft leather they sort of -have- to do that if you're going to bend at the ankle.

Doesn't bother me in the least. But then I have boots that do that too and I kept 'em.

What RT said. I even like them better for you because of this - a super sleek boot would look too restrained and not cool/relaxed enough.

Most boots do that. The only way around it is to buy the kind with eleastic up both sides, and even then you may get a little sag.

The only time I've found it a physical pain is when the folds rub on a senstitive spot on your ankles. BVut if you look bothers you, return the boots.

Okay, I have similar leg issues to you. My riding boots do a bit of what these do, but my Mia Deacon perforated boots don't. Can't add pics to this type of thread but I'd show you if I could. I don't really care for the bagging, but much like gaping I realize it's often part of scrawny leg syndrome . . .

Oh - I just wrote a comment on your original thread about the boots and the bagginess. To me - it is an unflattering look, no matter how RATE your style is. I have very skinny ankles and I have managed to find boots that fit both in the calves and are not baggy at the ankles. Una, I'd keep looking - especially since you think you're only going to be able to wear them with dresses/skirts! That's just too limiting IMO!

Marley, do tell who makes boots for those of us with scrawny ankle syndrome! I tried the elastic ones, but they sucked tight to my legs, making them look even skinnier (this is why I don't wear leggings).

Una I didn't notice this on the earlier post. I'm a neat freak so this would drive me crazy. I don't mind how they look on you but I'd this what you want? It could be good to hold out for the "perfect" pair?

My new Duo boots arrived yesterday, and they are also a bit loose at the ankle. However as I don't have very slim legs like yours, I don't think it's as noticeable on me, plus as I have chunky calves with relatively normal ankles I think the only other options are elasticated boots or custom made ones, and as that's not happening unless I win the lottery I'm sticking with mine!

AG I would email Duo about this. See what they say. And post a review on the site, it's exactly the sort of info buyers need.

I thought they looked baggy but assumed they were supposed to slouch. I'm not sure what style name they are but do they look like this on the model in the video (if there is one?)?

I assumed they were supposed to slouch too. But thinking about it, if you want boots to wear with skirts, you might want a more fitted ankle. If it's bugging you now, then it will probably still bug you when you wear them, so maybe you should return.

Una, I think this is a good look for team rate. Most of my boots have this shape, I like it. I have two pairs of tailored polished boots that fit me at the ankle. It is a particular look that like for polished boots, but not for more casual styles.

I personally have a thing about boots fitting nice and tight at the ankles, unless they are meant to be slouchy. I don't think it is a fashion faux-pas. I think they still look great. Personally though, it would drive me crazy and I would send them back.

Well, you can see by the responses that it can go either way! I say you need to decide if it drives YOU nuts.

This morning I just tried on the tall, black lace-up boots I bought at the NAS, and I realized the curve cut into the calf line of the boot does not follow the line of my actual leg. The result is a bunchy effect where it should be smooth and streamlined. The leather is very stiff, so I don't see the situation improving, so back to Nordstrom those boots are going.

Like you, I'm getting better about realizing sooner rather than later that a quirk of an item really bothers me, and I'm not settling the way I used to!
