Not taking the semi-tuck too seriously

I wore my Leith track pants to church with a silky blouse in a semi-tuck.

During visiting time after church, a dear older (than I) lady and I started to greet each other and she leaned in to ask whether I wanted.my shirt to be in or out. I explained this was the semi- tuck look and confessed I was trying it out even at the expense of looking like I'd just rushed out of the ladies'. She nodded.

We went on to talk about my DD' s upcoming wedding and her grandson' s upcoming wedding and had a nice conversation about those events and the challenges of finding dresses.

Just in case we need to be reminded.....

I'm glad you're taking it lightly. Some people would get paranoid and insecure in the face of such a situation. It's happened to me with a half popped collar, too.

I fully believe some other generations might actually be confused and hoping to politely help you - as if you had your skirt stuck in your stockings after visiting the ladies room

I'm sure she was trying to be sweet...it's really funny when they whisper it in your ear so as not to "embarrass" you. Too funny. I have all but abandoned the semi-tuck for the same reason. Well, it depends what age group I'm going to be around.

That's exactly the reason why I'm leery of trying the semi-tuck around my husband; he'd be bewildered by the sight of me wandering around with my shirt half in and half out of my waistband.

Hahahahaha! Oh, this makes me laugh! My mom did the same thing to me when I was home for Christmas. When I told her that it was on purpose she just kind of shook her head in amazement. But then, she's used to me dressing differently from her - and she kind of gets a kick out of how I dress, so it was all good!

Yeah, at church I tend to keep the trends to one carefully chosen accessory. Haven't done the semi-tuck there yet. : )

My friend and I joke about "educating the world"... I am sure the generational gap meant she was trying to be helpful... She learned something new!

At least she was polite about it. I once had a lady look at my popped collar and say "oh, your collar is sticking up, let me help you with that" and proceed to put it down. I just politely said thank you and when she left, popped it up again. It's a generational thing.

My 80 year old Dad has alerted me to tuck my top in at the back when I faux tuck. He really though he was helping! It's hilarious. Laugh it off

Not quite the same, but I've had several people wonder how I could possibly walk in sneakers without laces when wearing my slip-on Converse (which are styled with lace grommets but have some key added elastic that keeps them in place).
