not sure I love this--it's "interesting"

I know what you mean. I find it interesting and I love the boldness, but I feel a little bit like a Project Runway judge -- IMO there's a little too much going on in that coat, like it would have benefitted from a little editing.

Yeah, like I'm a fashion designer.

That's a lot of volume on the sleeve with the flanges that stick out. Color is great but somehow, yeah, it's overwhelming.

I tried on a similiar coat not that long ago at Nordstrom Rack... I'm sure not the same coat but similiar with that sort of outline of a coat, coat. Does that makes sense? LOL. Anyways it looked ridiculous on me. Very ridiculous. On her it's not bad. I really love the color.

I vote yay, there is something Japanese about this coat. And the reflecting red sunglasses complete the look.

(The string thing hanging down reminds me of a formal Japanese men's robe. Or maybe Korean?)

i love it! the volume is so on trend. despite having so much fabric, the coat drapes well and does not swamp her.

Oddly enough (odd since I love red normally) I think I'd like this better in another color. It's a really cool concept but I keep seeing "cardinal" (the Catholic kind, not the avian kind).

The jacket is from the fall 2012 RTW show by Comme des Garcons (designer is Rei Kawakubo). The collection made a big splash (pardon the pun). First pic below is from the show, later pics are street style shots from the recent shows, of fashion types wearing pieces from the collection. Cool stuff!
