Not logging out - oops!

Hey all,

Just wanted to let you know I am not here 24 hours a day! I just figured out that if I don't log off everywhere (office and home), it looks like I'm on here all the time. I wish. I've actually been at our cabin looking distinctly unfashionable for the last two days with no internet access...

Just so you didn't think I'm weird. Also, I'm planning to post a bunch of photos on Friday - it's an in-service day so I have to be home with my kiddo, and I figure I'll have all day to teach him how to take pictures or set up the tripod myself.

Off to catch up!

LOL, AG, that wouldn't bother us even if it were true. Just do a search for Mae's thread titled, "You know you're addicted to YLF when . . . "

Plus, I am pretty sure there have been times I've been on recently and I didn't see your name.

hahaha... my home laptop is mostly on all day and night so I bet it appears as if I'm always here... I wish!

Angie asked me to jump in and clarify a little...

When you stay logged in to YLF (e.g. leave your browser open) you don't appear in the online list that other people see unless you are have been active (refreshed a page by reading something or posting something) in the last 5 minutes. The online list is based purely on whether or not you were active recently.

BUT, to you it might appear as if you never left.

alaskagirl, I hope you don't mind if I explain using your example... just before leaving a couple of days ago your name was on the online list because you were active. When you returned, it was still there because your browser was still displaying the old page from two days before. Then when you clicked a page after returning you WERE active so you went back on the online list.

To you it appeared as if you never left, but to everyone else you dropped off the online list for two days.

So the only way you will stay on the online list for a full day is if you are active on the site at least every 5 minutes. Not that there's anything wrong with that!
