In light of today's blog post I thought I'd share my comparison between two cold shoulder detailed dresses. FWIW, Angie was one of the few who gave my red dress the thumbs up last year. Ahead of the curve?
It ended up being just too 'look at me' for my comfort but the ink blue one I feel perfectly comfortable in. Anyway, just felt like sharing this morning!

Thanks for sharing! I love both dresses on you, but I can see why you prefer the blue one. I'd prefer the blue one too, for the same reasons like you. I might try this, if I come across a cold shoulder dress or top for summer wear

Love the blue one! Like you, the first one wouldn't feel very me either, even though I can objectively see that it looks lovely on you. The blue one, though, is beautiful and it looks perfectly suited to you!

The ink blue dress is absolutely stunning on you. I prefer the subtle cold shoulder, and it looks great with the double belt - although the red dress is definitely va-va-voom hot on you too (though I agree far too bold if you're not seeking too much attention)!

I see what you mean. If the garment has the va va voom thing then the cold shoulder takes it over the top. The blue dress is so chic and wonderful for you.

I love your blue split sleeve dress! I can see why the red one would have been a lot more attention-getting, but it looked great too.

Thanks for the visuals, Mo! Angie mentioned in her response to my comment on the blog that she thought I needed something with a less cut-out shoulder because cold shoulder tops tend to emphasize the fact that my shoulders slope. I think your ink blue dress is the perfect example of what I should be looking for. The cutout forms a much more vertical line than on the other one so it strengthens the shoulder line. (This sounds paradoxical when I write it though... since the whole point of a cold shoulder top is to EMPHASIZE the shoulders, but my point is more about the shoulder LINE rather than the shoulder itself.)

Great example Mo - the blue one is really nice on you! The red one is glamorous but I'd be self-conscious in it too.

I like your split screen examples here. One thing that caught my eye in Angie's write-up was how alluring a bared shoulder can be. It doesn't seem overtly sexy, but I can see how it might fall into the bare-one-thing-at-a-time guideline - looks so much better with the high neck and loose fit vs. the plunging neckline and bodycon fit.

Dress #2 is very in keeping with visuals from Angie's blog, the cold shoulder is paired with volume and drape. Dress #1 has a different body con 80's retro vibe in my opinion.

you are killer casual in #2...so so effortlessly sexy. agree that you seem to be trying too hard in #1 with the open sleeves and the bodycon fit.

If I remember correctly, I suggested that the red dress could work if it was much longer - not a mini.

The blue dress looks SO MUCH BETTER. That's a 10!

The red is very Hollywood glamour but the inky blue is so very wearable! I love it with the boots and the cut away shoulder is very subtle. Looks lovely!

Yes, Angie, we discussed wearing it as a tunic, as I am in the pic (though you can barely see my black skinny jeans at the bottom of the frame).
I am so much more at ease in the blue though! Best dress I've bought in years. Key piece in my shift toward looser, flowing tops.

You mentioned wearing the red with your black skinny jeans. I think the blue would go with a really faded pair of boot cuts. White, maybe even more so. Have you tried it with either really faded or white skinnies or boot cuts? The Frye Julias would be right at home there, too

I did try the blue dress with my white straight legs and it was no good. Kinda neither here nor there. But I did wear it with my cork/taupe colored cargo leggings and loved it! I only have 4 blue jeans now (crazy!) so my only pair that's bootcut is not only dark, but hemmed for flats :/

The blue dress is stunning on you. Not that you couldn't pull off the red one, but it just doesn't compare in sophistication.

The blue one is sophisticated and stylish--I love it on you! I totally would wear that and I'm not normally into cold shoulder looks. But you definitely have the bod to pull off #1--you look gorgeous in that too. Would be a great date night or clubbing outfit.
