Nordstrom Rack question

The Rack is opening here in 11 days! Yes I have been marking the days off on my mental calendar.

So my question is are the clothes sold there current or off-season? I don't mind seeing things from last summer or spring, but I'm not really too enthused about shopping for winter and fall stuff right now.

Also, I doubt I'll have time to scour the entire store. Any suggestions on which departments to check out? Where will I find the deepest discounts and most killer stuff? Not an easy question, I realize. Just wondering what you guys who have known about the store for a long time like to go there for.

I've only been twice, but the clothes have seemed to be in-season. I bought dresses, tops, and jewelry. I checked lingerie but they only had smaller bras, unfortunately. (I'm a 36F or so.) The shoes would be worth checking, but I couldn't find any without four inch heels or garish details in my size.

Always be sure to check the shoes -- it's like treasure hunting! They have color-coded price stickers and one color is 50% off and a different color is 35% off the Rack price.

I always quick look at their accessories, i.e. pearls

The clothing is in season with out-of-season leftover clothing on clearance. However, if your store is new, they will probably not start out with leftovers. Some merchandise is from the stores, some from .com returns.

Premium denim about half off....designer shoes...you have to look but you can find some good buys:)

I've only been to the Rack north of Denver. At Thanksgiving I found my perfect puffer coat there. As Sara said, be sure to check out the shoes. It was the busiest section of the store.

They always have nice shoes. In, the Rack I frequent, the juniors' section is kind of a mess but trendy items abound. I treat that section as a higher-quality F21.

They have similar divisions as in the normal Nordstrom stores, so shop in the areas/brands you would normally shop. It's not like there's a whole section called "Savvy" but you might see a rack of clothing with a "Savvy" sign on it, for example.

Well..I don't normally shop at Nordstrom so I don't know exactly what departments to shop in (am I still allowed on YLF?). Their naming scheme isn't very descriptive. If I were in charge, Nordstrom departments would be given names like "moderately expensive" or "I can buy you and sell you" for Via C.

Angie, if I were your client, which departments would you take me to?

Julie, it's a bit like Christmas but I'm buying my own prezzies. A bit sad in theory but at least I know what I want.

Maya, specific racks are labeled (as well as larger sections)... I find it pretty easy to navigate. I think you'll find your bearings quickly. They have the juniors section, then misses (which is usually a mish mosh of all Nordstrom departments), and then the higher end stuff. There is also a clearance area which has even better deals. I also love their shoe department, accessories, and handbags too. Have fun.

The one near me is laid out somewhat like a Marshall's, only it's cleaner. There aren't a lot of departments to choose from in terms of women's clothing: plus, juniors, and misses. I think the price point separations just go by rack. So there will be pricier and less pricy racks in the Misses section, for example. Go when you have plenty of time and energy. It takes a good long while to look through the merchandise.

I love Nordstrom Rack. I go there entirely too often. Heh.
It's all in season, and they do a fairly good job of clearancing things fairly regularly to make room for new things.
I definitely agree to check the shoes. I got some lovely metallic Cole Haan dress sandals for $70. Cole Haans make my feet happier than just about anybody.
I also got Bryan some Fryes for under $100 - still pouting about that. *I* don't even have Fryes.
I always check dresses and premium denim first, because without fail I can usually find something.

Oh, sorry Maya, didn't know you weren't a Nordie's shopper. The clothes are sorted pretty well by style per rack, so if you see a rack of "mature" clothes, you know you can skip it and the racks around it.

How I shop the Rack is to first hit the racks with "Extra 40% off" or extra clearance signs on them. You can find some great deals there. There's always a ton of racks with premium denim, and many racks of dresses.

And you can find great shoe deals! Some Racks have a thing where they only have one shoe out and you have to go to the window in the back to get the matching shoe. Other Racks have both shoes out. For the shoe section, there are racks with regular brands, and then a smaller section with high-end designer brands.

I only ever get shoes from Nordies. Thanks for helping me navigate. I'm sure it will be a zoo there for the first week so I want to go early and often because my size always likes to sell out first, be it shoe size or dress size.
