Nordstrom HYS leather midi! And K/R sweater cardigan.

I went to Nordstrom for the Half-Yearly Sale and look what I found--a leather midi! It's in a nice cognac color which I think is easier to wear to work than black. It's from Leith and was on sale for $163 down from $328. The color is "gingerbread"--yum! (Hey Annagybe--it comes in black too!). What do you think of it?

Also, here's a keep or return. I loved my Free People orange poncho so much that when I saw a Free people long sweater cardigan in similar autumn spice colors, I ordered it (even though it's not on sale). I am lacking in the cardigan department, especially longer ones (I only have one grey hip-length one). But now that I tried it on, I'm thinking it may be a little too big and overwhelming on me. I feel like it doesn't look as good on me as one the model. What do you think--keep or return?

Love the color of the skirt, but it fits strange in the hips. Or it might be the way the pockets lay. I like the pattern of the cardigan but it does overwhelm you.

I think the skirt is very pretty and gives you lots of potential styling options.

I like the skirt though! The leather must be super soft to hang nicely like that. I also think it would look great with a cropped cardi over the outfit. Does it look okay with a cropped jacket, or does that look not soft enough with the leather?

Okay, now that I've flailed around myself, I'm coming back to comment. Since you are willing to tuck, I think you could get a lot of use out of this skirt, and it would go with your colors. It does seem to hang a little differently on you - remind me of your body type again?

Una, I'm an apple. I sized down in this skirt (normally I'm a 4 but I went with a 2) so it would sit higher on my waist to go above my apple tummy and be short enough to hit just below my knee so I wouldn't have to alter/shorten it.

I am going to try it tucked with all my pussybow blouses. Una I liked how you did it with the semitucked shirt and cropped sweater. Any other styling suggestions for this skirt?

Still messing around - will let you know, and please keep posting any other styling ideas you have!

I like the skirt on you too. I think any shorter cardigan or jacket will look good with it. Boots too, of course, to change up the look.
The cardigan isn't working, and I suspect you've already decided to return it!

While I love the side views of the skirt, hangs nicely from that view, I feel is is sitting awkwardly on your hips in the front pictures. Can you model it with some other shirts, perhaps those pussybow blouses?

I also find the drape of the skirt is not quite right---there's some puckering around the hips.....would it be worth sizing up and hemming, or did that size look wrong?

GP, I notice some comments on the fit at the hips... This skirt said it ran large but I got my regular size (for waist reasons). Maybe the 4 would hang better? I can hitch the skirt up or down a little, and the leather will conform to you after a while.

Unfortunately they didn't have a 4 in my store so I would have to order it.

I love the color and shape of the skirt for you, but am unsure about the fit on the hips as others have commented. I have a hard time with skirts though, let alone leather skirts. The cardigan is overwhelming you unfortunately, but the print is pretty cool. Maybe keep an eye out for a similar print in a flyaway style that's high-thigh length?

That cardigan is swallowing little you up! I vote return on that. I'm on the fence with the leather midi...I wonder how much use you would get out of it after a season or two? Will it feel dated sooner than say, a straighter, knee-length style would?
