Joy, that’s got to be hard! It’s also a bit ironic, because I assume he was worrying about his aging parents so far away. I hope he heals well!

Oh gosh, Joy! Sorry to hear that. How are you managing this international situation right now? My uncle lived in Japan for 30 years... I don’t know if there’s maybe some help he could provide if you need communication assistance now...?

There's an extremely steep hill in my neighborhood, and at the start of 2021 my goal was eight round trips by May 1 (up from six) with 14 by the time I turn 70 on May 1, 2023. Seems doable, right? Then last week I did the math. Fourteen laps would probably take me three HOURS or possibly 2.5 hours if I up my speed. Oops! I'm no exercise bulimic.

So now my goal is walk to and from my home and do eight laps within 1.5 hours and ultimately ten laps within 1.75 hopefully by the end of the year -- or whenever.

I gained about four pounds at the beginning of the pandemic, and it took me until December to get it off. Not gonna let that happen again, and I'd rather exercise than diet. But forget devoting my life to exercise! I plan what I will be wearing during the walk, but it doesn't take THAT long!

Love this post (I am late) and I love the idea of a “year of months”!

My biggest goals this year are around work/life balance. Over the holidays I let myself get sucked into working off hours in the hopes of getting ahead on work. It was easy because the kids were out of school at the same time, but I’ve had a hard time re-setting boundaries. And now that we are remotely schooling kids from home again, I am falling behind at work (again), and housework, fitness, and self-care are all lagging. I need to put some structure in place in hopes of achieving balance.
