I don't make hard and fast resolutions, per se, but I do try to reaffirm each year that I'm moving my life in a direction that aligns with my long-term goals and dreams. To that end, here are some things I am being mindful of as I start the new year:
1) I am continuing my practice that started four years ago, after my mom's death, to keep overcoming my fears -- to keep trying new things even if they sound scary or unrealistic for me (for example, starting my running habit).
2) As above, to do the things I've always wanted badly to do, but put off for whatever reason (I.e., my big solo cross-country road trip, taking at least one big photo workshop or expedition each year).
3) To push my art practice further and start teaching workshops.
4) To address a health issue that has been looming in the back of my mind. That means scheduling some surgery for this spring, after I complete my half marathon. I've been putting off thinking about it, so I will bite the bullet and tackle it when I get home from vacation.
5) To continue improving my overall health and fitness with balanced eating and physical activity.
6) To spend more time with my friends and family who are going through some difficult times.
