Hey, guys!

I figured out a technique for shortening spaghetti top or dress straps a few weeks ago and I thought I'd share. I am usually too lazy to sew anything even thin straps so this is great makeshift solution.

You will need:
- garment with too long straps
-2 safety pins (one for each strap)

Step 1:
Try to determine the excess strap length. I go by trial and error and it works fine.

Step 2: Turn garment inside out.

Step 3: Take safety pin and lay garment flat with the backside facing up.

Step 4: Gather fabric on the sharp end of the pin. I usually make three "waves" and it works fine for my proportions.

Step 5: Close pin and neatly rearrange the gathered fabric. You're done (provided that you gathered enough of the excess fabric. If not, make another "wave" to shorten the straps even more).

Pic 7 shows the end result after turning the garment inside out again and arranging the gathered fabric neatly. The pin is barely visible because it's covered by the gathered fabric.

Disclaimer: I have not yet road tested this method and cannot attest for the pin not getting opened during the day.
