Oh, i also sometimes iron on a patch of light interfacing under problem areas. I thought i was being very clever extending my tshirts' lives, until i once put the patch on the outside of my favorite tshirt. Not so clever.

I feel ya! I have the same problem with t-shirts priced low or high they all get holes.

This is a great mystery in our house as well. Our clothes are washed together but only my husband's develop holes. He wears a belt and I don't so I always assumed it was the buckle rubbing.

In our household, it's always my shirts that get holes. My DH is able to wear his shirts until they wear out, though he has an old orange sweatshirt that he's had forever that is still bright orange and still without holes. We got married in 1987, and he's had that shirt at least that long, lol. It's a poly/cotton blend I think, but mostly cotton; I take no special care when washing and drying it. This irritates me no end, because I wash my shirts in cool water on delicate cycle, and hang them to dry. They still develop holes. At least if I get the shirts on clearance, I won't feel that bad if they only last a season. I'm in no mood to pay top $ for shirts that aren't going to go the distance.

My t-shirts always get holes in an odd place, until I realized the top is rubbing against my belts and that's what was causing the holes.

I think you need to take a look at where these holes develop. If it's near the neckline on one top, on the sleeve of the second, and the back of the third, it's likely crappy materials. But if the holes tend to develop in the same area on multiple tops, it's most likely a wear pattern.

You may be right, but I think it's beyond pathetic that those holes appear after only 2 or 3 wears at the most. The tops I'm talking about have not been worn a lot, and they have been washed very gently in cold water, and hung up to dry. I should not have to baby them that much.
