No dressy shoes for me either. No places to wear them. Once a year tops. I love your collection. Lots of variety.

I'd ditch the platforms with the bow, as you suspect.
I'm also not really a fan of bow the kitten heels. I'm having a very difficult time imaging them with your current wardrobe and style.

Vivian, those are from Modern Vintage, maybe four years ago. I've only worn them a few times, but my hubs loves them so they stay for my date night capsule!

Ah, I misunderstood---thought you'd decided to toss the lot. I'm glad you're keeping those pretty ones. Must confess I've vowed "no more heels" myself--no use; I'm weak!--but have succeeded in limiting my latest purchases to heels under 2.5 " . It helps.

I'm right there with you, Janet. I did the same thing a few years back ---- went nuts and bought lots and lots of 'dressy' shoes. In my case, 'dressy' meant pumps with impractical sky-high heels. In reality, I struggle with anything over 2inches....so those only looked nice on my shoe rack and on my feet To be fair, heels DO LOOK AND MAKE ME FEEL SEXY and all womanly

Well, they're all gone now. I was brutal with purging this year and gave away all those gorgeous shoes to women who have a sitting job and don't mind 4" heels.

I love your dressy shoes. Especially the Okalas. Now if I could only find a pair of those shoes! I'm smitten by them....I don't think I've seen more gorgeous shoes in my life!

It's tough to let go of those high heels, isn't it? It feels a little like conceding defeat.

For the moment, I think I'm keeping all the shoes in the photos I posted. The tiger stripe kitten heels come in handy for my funeral capsule, believe it or not. I wear them with my black or grey trousers (which are not long enough to wear a higher heel with) and a simple black or dark patterned blouse, since I have no other appropriate shoes for that kind of thing unless I wear booties. I also like them peeking out from bootcut jeans from time to time. I'm struggling a little more with the dragonfly/floral print kitten heels, as pretty as they are. I fell in love with the print and talked myself into thinking I'd make the effort to style them, and I've only bothered to do so a couple of times. I may give it another shot before selling them. They're also not very comfortable. Such were the decisions I was making while shopping two years ago, ugh.

The platform bow pumps are on notice. I've had them for 7 years I think? I know I wore them to the first Obama inauguration (one of the balls). And I've worn them to a function with my husband a couple of times, as they added a little something more to a pretty traditional looking dress at the time. I've hung onto them thinking I might need them to spark up that same dress, but we don't go to that particular function anymore, so maybe it's time to reevaluate keeping that whole outfit. Hmmm. Well, at least the practice of dragging my shoes out for review has got me thinking more critically about what I hang onto and why. Thanks for all the thought-provoking responses!

I know just what you mean, Janet. I struggle with patterned shoes too. I had picked up two pairs a couple of years back telling myself that they'd be versatile and comfortable because they were such low heels.

Well, I never wore them. Maybe 1 pair one time. Finally I gave them away coz they were just taking space in my shoe storage section. I knew in my heart that I would always pass them over for a pair I loved more, and they would just sit eat dust in my closet. I showed them on the forum here:

I said this same thing to DH recently and he came back with, " Well keep what you have and let's find places to go that allow you to have that fantasy life you deserve." I think that motivated him to my week of b'day surprises and today's event of going to an English tea room... However I do have to come back to reality as I home school my youngest these next few years, lol....

Good to know, and better to "say out loud". Helps with accountability. Unless you're displaying them over the fireplace, they do you no good if you don't wear them. Save those fashion dollars for something you'll love and wear.

Very much relating to this! All my pumps that live at work get plenty of use, but my beautiful "fun heels" at home venture out only occasionally. Two each of peeptoes (one black, one nude), sandals (one black, one silver) and pumps (one black, one pewter . . . seeing a pattern. . .), and then my favorites, deep red heels and pink jeweled satin peeptoes. But this is after giving away dozens of other pairs, so I'm with you in keeping what I have and insisting on no more!
