Night Time Bras - Anyone wear them?

I don't, but some of my friends and clients do. Do you wear them, and if so, how are they different to your day time bras?

I don't normally wear them but I did when I was nursing. I needed a little more support and pressure to prevent leaking. Sorry if that's too much information.

Are there special bras specifically sold for wearing at night? I had one friend who wore a bra to sleep. Not for nursing; she was trying to prevent sagging breasts (she wasn't particularly large--just really into Botox and general age-defying measures).

I don't usually, but recently wore sports bras to bed when on a holiday with girlfriends. I just felt more comfortable and covered.

I do remember seeing special bras for nighttime use. They were specially designed to discourage the cleavage lines that develop with time and age and weight. Wonder if i can dig it up. Might have been european, or maybe canadian designed. Dutch, maybe?.....hmmm.

My mother does and she has very little sag for her age.
I don't know how much good a sleep bra would do for side and belly sleepers, as there would still be squishing.
It may help back sleepers to keep larger breasts from shifting sideways and stretching the skin between the breasts?

Minnie, I think my clients wear nighttime bras for comfort - a little ironic perhaps - but it makes sense for some.

The only time I ever wore one was when I was pregnant. Otherwise I think I would be uncomfortable, so I don't wear a bra to sleep in now.

I do. I have always worn them. I stopped for a while after a friend told me it's very unhealthy to sleep with a bra on, but started having a lot of breast pain.

I have large breasts and I sleep on my belly, so my breasts tend to get smashed and squished while I'm sleeping. When I saw a doctor about it, she suggested I wear lightweight, pure cotton soft bras that don't do any lifting - just support the breast tissue and keep it in place. I also wear sports bras that are designed for just that (they don't offer the kind of support you need for high impact workouts but just separate and softly encapsulate the breasts). I cannot imagine sleeping without a bra anymore.

I wear just an old comfy one or a bralette since after having the kids.
It's supposed to prevent sagging so I am counting on that.

I remember always wearing a bra while sleeping when I was younger, but ever since I hit my twenties I don't wear one every night....but there are days when my 'assets' feel achy, swollen and just painful (you know 'that-time-of-the-month when Aunt Flow visits!).

The most comfy ones in my opinion are the slightly padded, non-wired, cotton bras because they feel soft against the skin, let you breathe easy and don't poke you anywhere.

Also I feel Marks & Spencer make some super comfy ones

Ah, no. But ... I did when I was breastfeeding because I was so sensitive and tender any rubbing was excruciating. I would, though, LOVE to find a bra without underwire that I could lounge in at home without the dreaded uniboob (looking for a sports bra like that too). I have great bras, fit well, expensive but still like to take them off when I get home. Right now I make do with a Halogen cami that has some Lycra to keep the girls from bouncing all over the place but it's not ideal.

I've recently discovered wearing bralettes at night and love them. I originally bought one to wear under a sleep shirt on a girls weekend..funny how that prompts us to do things we don't normally do...
Anyway, I sleep hot and now sleep with the Soma bralette and Soma Cool Nights sleep shorts. That and linen bedding and I'm sleeping better than I have in a long time.
The bralette I have doesn't have hooks or anything. It's very comfortable.

JayS, thanks for the link. I had no idea what a bralette was. These are kind of what I wear on a day to day basis as I'm very small breasted and real bras are not comfortable. Even then, I do have big investments in lock-em-down sports bras. But to answer Angie's query, No, I don't wear bras to sleep in, unless I fall asleep before I put my jammies on.

I wear a very light stretchy sports bra because the puppies frequently get out at night and I have to run around catching them It makes life so much more comfy when you're rolling out of bed at 2am and jogging around the yard.

I slept in a soft nursing bra when I was pregnant and nursing, because my breasts were larger and -- especially while nursing -- MUCH heavier. I think it helped (although who really knows -- maybe it was just genetics). When they shrank back to normal they were not saggy. Perhaps a little lower than before, but barely noticeable.

The one thing about wearing a bra to sleep that concerns me is that they constrict blood flow a little, and common sense says that that might not be a good thing. I'm not saying that wearing bras at night leads to breast cancer -- I haven't read any stats on that -- but I'd rather err on the side of caution. If my breasts were big enough that NOT wearing a bra to bed was uncomfortable, I'd get a breast reduction.

I do! I have young teenagers (both 13) and, until very recently, we all shared one bathroom in a very small house. I felt more "presentable" when wearing a loose, low-impact sports bra -- one that encapsulates, rather than a uniboob band. Now we have a master bath, but just this morning the neighbor boy rang the doorbell before I had a changed out of my loungewear (I wait until after b-fast and dishes). Glad to have the coverage. Of course, I was going commando in my black lounge pants. I like to think that is not discernible!

Same as Robin! That and, if I fall asleep in a bra, I'll wake up from the discomfort, regardless of whether it's a soft cup or underwire.

Thanks for asking this, I am finding myself in situations like Beth Ann described, mostly due to inquisitive toddlers and early arrival of the housekeeper. Right now, I run and pop on any bra I can come across to give myself some coverage, but it would probably be a good idea for me to find something to pop on in the AM pre-shower/pre-dressing for modesty purposes.

Yes! I've been wearing cotton-rich bralettes as sleep bras for the past 4 or 5 years. Ever since I lost muscle tone during menopause, I've needed a way to keep the girls in line for sleep comfort.

I dont always, but go through phases were I do. When I do, I wear the Aah Bra:) I wear it for the same reasons at Maneera. I am large busted and sometimes experience some pain in the breasts (all checked out and it's fine) and I find the added support at night relieves that.
