Hi Everyone!

Lantana's WIW thread the other day got me thinking about nicknames for items of clothing I own. Some names I've given to them myself, and some my husband has made up. For instance, I have a pair of blue and white diamond printed pants that I call my "circus pants," and a blouse that my husband calls my "chef blouse" because he says it looks like a white chef's jacket (he's wrong and it's fabulous, heh). Those are the ones I can think of off the top of my head. It's actually kind of fun for me. Anyway, I was wondering if anyone else does this too, or maybe I'm the only one. ; )

Oh yeah - we are full of them in my house. Lettuce legs and celery pants right off the top of my head. The BF's Key West pants, tree outfit, magic carpet shirt, atomic shirt. I'm sure there are tons more but I need to eat and can't think straight lol.

EDIT: OMG how could I forget? - my toilet paper shirt! (see, I can think again after some lasagne)

We absolutely name distinct items around here. I had a great pair of cropped batik print sequin embellished (ok they sound horrid, but it was 2001) pants that my SIL dubbed the "chacha pants".

Hahaha, I like both your nicknames. "Lettuce legs," "Magic Carpet shirt" and "Chacha pants" make me laugh.

I have a bright blue blazer that my sister calls "Pippa" ... I guess pippa had one. :p

My husband has the "numbers shirt', "the Muppet parts shirt' and his 'construction shirt' ( he is a teacher so I got him one of those orange construction guy shirts from a work ware store--he has worn it for lectures). He was forbidden by his Dean to wear these to teach a seminar in China--WTH??? {=+D

Um..I hate to say it, but I do have a dress (still unworn) that my husband calls the "Yeah, Baby" dress. When I get started clearing out my closet, I'll have to decide whether to keep (and actually) wear that thing. It's not like it's revealing or anything like that - just that the pattern/style/colour are such a departure for me. It would look great with go-go boots...just that I wouldn't be caught dead wearing go-go boots? What was I thinking?

What else...

The green MK marble print dress - my stepdad insists on calling it my green lizard dress. Oh, and I have a handbag that I picked up in an outlet mall - very big, way more blingy than anything I'd choose for myself (got talked into it) and both my husband and Mom call it my "Sex and the City" purse. I really only carry my phone, lipstick, comb, keys - and this thing is so big it could practically be a carry-on for the plane.

Yes, I am getting teased a lot since trying to re-vamp my style a bit.

I'm not so sure these are valid nicknames - its more like people just want to tease me about all this style stuff.

My DH found a super weatherproof jacket and could never locate the owner because all that was visible on the name tag was "Keith". Well, "Keith" that jacket remains to this day. My mum had a shaggy camel hair coat that was always affectionately referred to as "bulls wool". I wore a skinny rib sweater in the seventies that my then OT called my "doggy sweater"-its form fitting style used to make him pant passionately like a love-sick pup. :)We even named a tea towel. It was one of those corny souvenir tea towels printed with Aussie icons: tomato sauce bottle, bush dunny, blow flies and red back spider. So we gave it a suitably iconic Aussie name: Kevin. Now how silly was that?

I'm laughing at the KEVIN tea-towel - that's hilarious! I have some Irish linen tea-towels, but I hadn't thought of actually naming them. Too cute
