So the NFL* has a new policy banning bags, backpacks, coolers, and most purses. However:

Small “clutch” bags will be allowed.

Is anyone else laughing with me? Good thing that thanks to Angie I have five. I'm all ready for gameday!

Do you think that the NFL is so sure of the masculinity of the trouble makers that gun and knife (and eggs) won't be toted by ladies with clutches?
At our AFL games they don't know the difference between a clutch and a purse. How funny.

Honestly, I don't think the NFL knows what a "clutch" is. I can imagine the wrangling that is going to go on at the gates about whether a given clutch meets the guidelines.

I think that as long as it isn't big enough to hold a beer bottle, it will pass. Honestly, I don't think it's about safety. I think they want to make sure they sell as much food/beverage as possible so they are trying to stop people from bringing it in. Shameful with the price of tickets.

I think I'll buy tix just so I can sport a clutch! Though I agree, Mary, that the NFL employees might not know one when they are one! Archer, maybe I need to buy a minaudiere for safer egg transport!

My understanding is that the new policy is somewhat influenced by the Boston Marathon. Fans can't even bring seat cushions.
