I don't have many news about the treatment of our boy.
He is still on the break between the 1st series of chemo treatments and 2nd serie that will begin within 15 days. Everything went well, he did not resented the chemo, no sickness and he's always hungry.
He lost all his hair, and we thought we were prepared, we had talked with him, he had bought some cool wool hats, but believe me it's always a shock!! We tought we were prepared. It pains me to look at him and he is so sad and embarrassed to go outside.

I have not said much, sometimes it hurts me to write about it.
Thank you for your support YLF it has been a great help! I love to come here and read your posts, althought I don't comment as much as before, I'm still here!

Thank you for the update. I'm glad to hear the treatment is going well. That is such good news. It's been a terrible shock for all of you and the hair loss is a devastating part of it for your son I'm sure. It's one thing not to feel well, but much harder when you don't 'look' well, especially for a young person. Take heart - he's on a journey to good health again.

Thank you for checking in, Rute. I understand why you might not always want to post about your son's situation. It's challenging enough just to deal with it day by day....sometimes you just don't want to talk about it.

Sending you lots of love as you help your son accept his loss of hair. Teenagers are very concerned with their appearance, so it must be very difficult for him. And I know how hard it is for you, too. It's very difficult to watch someone you love suffer.

Hugs to you and your son. You are handling this very difficult situation with patience and grace.

Rute - thank you for the update and please do not feel that you have to let us know how things are going. This is a difficult time and as you say, not always something you want to write about.

I'm glad your son is tolerating the chemo well but I am so sorry about the hair loss. It is a difficult thing to go through and especially as a teenager. It's so hard to see our babies suffer.

I have nothing to add that can help you with this other than send you positive energy and assurance that you will all get through this and be stronger and closer for it.

Aw, I'm so sorry he is embarrassed about the hair loss. Please tell him that my teenage daughter actually thinks bald boys are really attractive. Boys actually shave their heads around here, for fashion purposes. It is a really cool look!
I am glad the therapy is underway. This will soon be behind you.

Take care of yourself, Rute, as well as your son. It has to be so hard to watch your son go through all the treatments and the hair loss. As mothers, we want so badly to be able to protect and take care of our children, and we feel so helpless when we can't make the bad things go away. Do what needs to be done and, if you need a place to vent, we will do whatever we can to support you. Lots of virtual hugs to both you and your boy.

Hugs to you all, Rute! I ran in a race yesterday in honor of cancer patients (the race is a fundraiser held every year, and Team in Training, which benefits the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, is the main reason i started running) and as I ran, I thought of everyone I know who is now in treatment. Even though I don't know your son IRL, I thought of him and sent all the best healing vibes I possibly could.
