Newbie seeking advice regarding shirt dress - pics added

Hi, all!
I've been a reader for months now and even though it might sound creepy feel like I already know you and can trust your honest opinions.
I ordered a coral shirt dress that fits wonderfully when I stand, however when I sit down it bunches up around my thighs and crotch area. Is that normal with shirt dresses and should I just accept it or does that mean it's too small? The dress fits beautifully through the bust and body (no bunching!) but as soon as I sit there's gaping around the crotch area.
I was planning to wear it with with leggings or skinny pants so there's no danger of revealing too much.
I wish I could post pictures but I seem to have to few posts in order to do that.
I hope my description makes sense, since I'm not a native English speaker.
Advice appreciated!

Welcome Lavinia!
It takes about 10 days untill you can post pictures directly on the site. In the meantime you can post your picture somewhere else online and place a link to that place.
I have no experience with that kind of dress as it doesn't suit my bodytype so I can't help you there.

I'm not an expert by any means but just had a look at the dress and it might be just how it's constructed (a narrow fit). It's a lovely dress and I really like the red, too. There is a link to the catalog on the website and the cover picture is the same dress (I think?), the model wearing it leans a bit and you can see the slight bunching around the hips, I would imagine it gets more when you sit. It makes me think it's normal for that kind of fitted dress, but it's a matter if you mind or don't mind it... Does it look like it wrinkles easy?

Isabella, thanks for your input. Yes, the dress fits snuggly and even on the model there is indeed some slight bunching at the hip area. I wore the dress around the house and it doesn't seem to wrinkle much.

Actually, I ordered two dresses and I am asking this because I said to myself that I can only keep one. The problem is they both fit nicely but they both have pluses and minuses. I'm so confused!

This is the link to the other dress (it's the taupe one). I'm hesitant about the color on me but it drapes beautifully and creates curves around my narrow IT hips. But it is a totally different style and register (much more formal than the previous one).

I like the cut of the second dress better. I'm a little unsure of the first one, the shirt tail type hem (curved instead of straight) seems difficult to wear. I can understand why you might have problems when you sit.

Too bad we can't see photos of you in both. Do you have a Flickr or Photobucket account? You could post them there and then provide a link.

Kristine, the hemline on the first dress is exactly what I'm also not so sure about. I'd much prefer if it were straight but I love the vibrant color!

If you wear this dress as a tunic with leggings or skinnies or clamdiggers in summer that gaping should not be a problem. I really like the curved hem if worn as a tunic. See how she wears this:

I managed to create a Photobucket account. Please be honest. It's about which one to keep - the taupe or the red one. I haven't styled them and the picture quality is pretty poor since the only camera I have is on my cell phone.

These two dresses seem quite different to me in style. I love the red one and think it fits you well and will be very versatile. I don't think it's too short to wear as a dress either. It looks like a material that will wrinkle, but I don't mind that with natural fabrics.

The other one appears dressier to me and more of a cocktail/event dress. It's a little hard to tell from the photos, though.

Both dresses look really nice - but I think if you want a casual, shirtwaist dress that it would be best to pass on this one and look for one that doesn't have the bunching issues! However, if you want a dressier dress - the 2nd one looks gorgeous on you!

Welcome! You english is perfect! Loved both dresses! If both fit well I don't know what to say!

The first is a more casual dress, the second one is perfect for work! Maybe you should look at your wardrobe and see wich you will use more.
We have 3 suisses here too.. so I think I should check their site!

Thank you ladies for your opinions. Yes, they are quite different styles. I was hoping for a more unanimous decision, though It seems it's up to me nevertheless ...

@rute: you should definitely check out 3 suisses, if you haven't already! the clothes are beatiful! I also recomend Halens, if it's available in Portugal.

OT: My kitty isn't feeling well, so I'm taking her to the vet in the morning (I think it's serious, because this week I've already lost her sister after 10 days of pain and therapy. I still want to cry when I think of my poor little fur baby). Please send some healing thoughts our way, thank you!

Lavinia, I vote for the red dress to wear as a tunic. I'm so sorry about your sick kitty and am sending healing thoughts. It's so difficult to see our fur babies sick.

Lavinia, I think that the red dress looks very nice when you are standing, and I would actually probably prefer it without the pants underneath, as it definitely looks long enough to wear on its own. However, I do see the wrinkles around your thigh area, which I am guessing happened because of sitting. Is that something that would bother you? I try to avoid that type of wrinkling if at all possible--perhaps a shirtdress that has more of an a-line cut in the skirt would prevent this problem?

As for the other dress, I think it is very pretty on you, and agree it is fancier than the more casual shirt dress. I hope you don't mind me pointing this out, but I could see a little bit of belly bulge in the dress. I only mention it because I am very conscious of those things. If it doesn't bother you, that's fine. If it does, I am sure that some kind of foundation garment/shapewear (like Spanx) would solve the problem easily.

Maybe try one with some stretch? I have the Calvin Klein shown in the YLF store and it's a comfortable, stylish addition to my wardrobe.

@steph: Yes, I've noticed the belly bulge too and this is one of the drawbacks of that dress. Also my arms seem wobbly in it, but I still love the front knot detail!
I'm horrible at making decisions, aren't I ?

I'm back from the vet now, we've gotten 4 shots of antibiotics and a painkiller, and I will need to syringe feed her, because she is too feverish to have any appetite whatsoever :/

I just want to thank you all for taking the time and helping me make a decision and for all the positive thoughts for my fur baby! I really appreciate it.

I will style the tunic dress and post photos in another thread, when I'm up to it.

I like both dresses, but I like the red one better. Just because of the colour that seems to suit jour skin better. From what I can see in the small picture I think in the red one you look slimmer

It does seem that the sturdy fabric helps to give more definition to my boyish frame.
