I went shopping for some pumps. I had in mind that I wanted a d'Orsay style if I could find one that would work for me, so I went to Nordstrom to try on some Jeffrey Campbells with an ankle strap and some Vince without. The impetus is a holiday party with work, although I have perfectly wonderful pumps that I could wear already--so no panic or real need, which is nice.

Browsing the very sparse sale racks on the way to find the pumps, I spied a moto boot that I had on my favorites list for months. The boots were way out of my price range, but I had kept them on my list as more of an aspirational style. Now here they were, marked down to a point where the price was still a stretch for me, but within the realm of possibility. They were a half size down from what I would normally wear. Of course I had to try them on--and they fit beautifully! Now I had a dilemma--to buy or not. I had already gotten a pair of Frye short moto-style boots, although they are quite different in feel. (shown here: http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....-with-that )

Then I remembered I had Christmas money from my parents, and I thought, What a perfect way to use that gift! I came home with the boots and pumps.

Both shown with what I'm wearing today:
Olive brown cowl-neck cross-over sweater (this is kind of poncho-esque, no?) (Nally & Millie), skinny ankle jeans (Lucky, Charlotte Rail), brass and silver earrings (Marjorie Baer), brass and silver bracelets (Lucky).
Dark, dark brown pull-on moto boots (Miu Miu)
Black d'Orsay pumps (Vince Claire)

I'm wearing the pumps around the house to see if I can actually take the 3" heel. I think I can make them work; they are for occasions, not everyday or work wear.

Thanks for looking! I always appreciate your thoughts and comments.
