New Year closet clean up - YouLookFab Forum

Hi Ladies,

It's been a very busy year and I haven't posted at all although I've dipped in from time to time. I've had some precious time to myself over the last week (and another week to go whee!) and I've spent some of going through my wardrobe and drawers and doing a bit of a New Year's spring clean and reorganise to see what is worn out, what is missing and what I'm just not working for me anymore.

It has been a really interesting exercise and I was interested to see how my wardrobe has been evolving over time. Plus so nice to be able to see everything organised and tidily arranged. I've been a bit slack this year and things were in a real muddle and it was becoming hard to find anything.

I have to say I am loving the new finds feature (see what I missed by not being on regularly this year!) So useful to be able to put images of similar clothes items to what you own in there and look at them as a set or capsule to see the holes and get a feel for the mood and styles they evoke as a whole. It is still a work in progress though.

It is summer here in Australia so I'm loving seeing what you have all been wearing in the autumn and winter as I start to think about what I will be wearing. I think a wildcard for me will be a bright fushia pink bag. I've always stuck to neutrals before like black, grey, brown or taupe but I am really feeling bored with my current options.

Anybody else doing a new year's stocktake, cleanout and re-org?

I am, but like always I'm totally pressed for time. I thought I'd have more because I actually had some holiday. Anyways, once again I'm stuck on the fact that I like my clothes. Need to weed!

I do my clothing weeding on a regular basis. When I see it need to go, it goes. Glad you were able to get yours all done.

Sounds like a great time to reassess and rearrange. And I am TOTALLY in favour of the fuchsia bag. Gorgeous. I love a bright bag for a change and it's remarkable how well they work into a wardrobe, especially if you ordinarily wear a lot of neutrals.

I am reorganizing right now - the new year seemed like a great time to do this process. And go for it with the fuschia bag - I wear all neutrals (black and gray) and carry a bright red or bright pink purse. Love how it adds a pop of color.

I wasn't necessarily going to do a wardrobe clean-up, but after reading your post, yes I will! I did a purge a couple of months ago but I don't think it was enough. And another vote here for this gorgeous bag.

I love the fuchsia bag! And I am always in favor of a nice purge. I try to weed out as I go but every once in a while a big clean-out is a great idea, too!

I always seem to have a little pile for the donation box, but I was thinking the other day that I might switch around the strategy and buy some of the items on my shopping list before I get rid of things because I'd create holes if I got rid of things first. Never done this before but I'm pretty good at getting rid of things and so I don't have much I don't use.

I love the color of the bag - I find fuchsia a surprisingly versatile color if it suits you because you can wear it with all neutrals and it really helps liven up black and white.

I was at the thrift store yesterday, dropping off some donations from the garage/shed clean out we did during the holidays, and made an impulse buy of a dark orange handbag. Not a color I usually wear so it'll be interesting to see how I can use it in outfits.
