Thanks, Christie -- what a nice compliment. I have a lot of help here at the forum and from Angie's blog posts! And I also had a US shopping trip, which allowed me to try all the jeans. (It was fun but frazzling! I feel like I tried on 100, though it was probably more like 20 pair.) It pays to make that effort, though. The comparisons really help narrow things down.
Tanya, yes -- I think you had those same J. Crew trouser jean crops. They were good -- except they stretched. I guess all jeans do, to an extent, but it's the how and where of the stretch that made them annoying. Anyway, they were low waisted compared to the current versions.
You are a brilliant stalker of sales so I have no doubt you will locate the jeans you're after at a better price. I'll be cheering you on!
unfrumped, they proportions bring back memories, no?
Dee, you are definitely on board with the look and wearing it very well indeed! Give those kids a run for their money.
Bijou, I think you'll enjoy the drama of this style.
Olive Green, thanks!
Brooklyn -- just look at those new jeans of yours! Can't wait to see them on. A question -- how long as season will full length denim have in your climate as compared to cropped, or does that not make any difference where you live? I think for me they'll be a 3 season item, wearable on some high summer evenings, probably. But my summer is relatively short and (used to be) temperate -- though with 40C temps these days, maybe not so much anymore!
Zaeobi, I think that is wise planning.
Joy, thank you!
Slim cat, you look amazing in the black wide legs! Maybe some blue ones will show up on sale somewhere. I think maybe Gap has some lower rise versions coming in and I predict Anthropologie will, also. Lower rises are definitely becoming more available.
Irina, thank you!
Jaime, ha! These were comments from strangers, not the family, and strangers wouldn't know what I usually wear. But I think maybe if my overall look were less classic I'd get fewer remarks. It's the presence of one statement item that really stands out that makes people feel free to talk, I suspect....
