I like these pants! I can see them tapered at the bottom--that would look cute, I think. They don't seem very "slouchy" to me, just because the fit through the hips is pretty snug, but I still think you can get a cute silhouette by having them tapered beginning at the knee.
Here are two pairs of mine, to give you an idea (since we are the same height, about). First pair, Theory trousers (pic from last winter, so sorry about the poor lighting). They taper to 15.5 inches (just under 8" laying flat). The blue Express pair were bootcuts when I bought them. I had them tapered, beginning at the knee, to 14" (7" laying flat). Interestingly, the Theory trousers look just as tapered, but they are wider. I think it's because they are longer. So, bottom line, definitely play around with the length and the tapering at the same time, so you get the look you are after.
