I can see why it might take time even for you to get used to it, especially if you wore long hair for most of your life. But, you have everything going for you to carry this.
A hair like this is quite a statement. So, no surprises why the environment (hubby, mum) may show some signs of resistance. But, if you accept it and decide to keep this length, your confidence will speak for itself.
Also, I think you need very few accessories to finish the look. I second the suggestion to try the look sans earrings, I think they are diverting the limelight from your beautiful features. I can see delicate stud earrings working better here, I think they'd be more proportionate with you. Regarding the frames, I actually rather like these, to my eye they are lightweight enough because they are rimless, so they don't compete with those same features. I think you have very defined, classic style and you wear scarves a lot, am I right? I can see beautiful scarves being a perfect frame for your face and I don't think you actually need much else.
