New Summer Dresses - YouLookFab Forum

I am trying to prepare for the long summer ahead and get myself a few day time dresses. I was originally thinking work but I also have a couple of weddings to go to so though perhaps one of them could double up as daytime wedding outfit. Although I am happy to buy something a bit more special as long as I can wear it to two weddings one in May and the other in July, (completely different group of people so just need to stay out of the photographs).
Anyway I am looking for some honest opinions on these dresses. The first rwo I have already bought the 2nd I took pics of in the changing room so I could think about it. I should mention that all three are reduced in the sale by 60%! bargains!!

Blue patterened dress, slightly looser style, tried smaller size but it was too tight round the arm holes!

White and blue dress - not bought yet. This is the smaller size which fitted perfect around the waist but again a wee bit tight at the arms.

I wouldn't wear the black shoes, these wear what I was wearing at the time. I did see some dark navy shoes in Zara which I though would look good.

All of these dresses are ones that I would like the look of on other people but not sure if I can pull them of and make them look stylish.

I think the 1st one looks better with the non matching belt in the second picture. I LOVE the second dress. The third dress looks great but i'd pass if it's tight in the armholes, from experience it becomes a nuisance as the day wears on x

I agree with Louise - the second dress is lovely. I also really like the first dress (I love orange), but don't think that the third dress looks as good as the othe two.

You are not sure if you can pull them?? You have already did that! You look amazing in all of them! I would keep 1 and 2... love, love 3, but if it is tight in the armholes .. I guess it's better let it go..

Thanks ladies, I really like no.3 too - the design is a bit complicated but I was thinking to get the bigger size and have it tailored, its such a goood price that I wouldn't mind paying a little to get a perfect fit!
Do you think that would work?! I am picturing this one with black or navy accessories maybe a fascinator for the wedding (are these ylf approved?) When I saw it it sort of reminded me of the whole nautical theme that is going on right now.

I adore all three, especially the vivid print of the first one. It will look great with other belts. Nude shoes will work better than navy ones, and they will go with all of the dresses! The third one is super-pretty but it looks a little snug; that might be a problem as the summer wears on and it gets hotter.

all three are great styles on you-you look like a fashionista from Milan, that classy and chic italian look!- but alas, you are so right about the armholes on #3. Look again at all the photos, especially the "pattern" one and you will see the skin fold where your underarm is pushed out to bulge above the fabric seam. Also the armholes are too "cut in", i.e. cut back towards the centre, so as to make your shoulders look wider than necessary.
Could you try the next size up, and if the armholes are OK, spend what you've saved in the sale on getting the waist taken in? this frock is such a gorgeous colour... happy shopping!

yeah you are totally right and it did feel uncomfortable. If I get a chance I will pop back and try the bigger size again and think about tailoring, I think I would only do this though if it is wedding outfit approved?!!
Kristen I have nude almond heels which work really well with the first dress but the seem to whishy washy for the 2nd dress, I thought maybe darker shoes woudl be better with this one and more work like.
For anyone in Europe the shop name is Turnover, first time I have been in but found lots of things that I really liked.

For the zebra print dress, a colored shoe would be great! Black would also work but I think that dress will need some color, either with shoes or a clutch or purse. The almond shoes would be better with dresses #1 and 3, you are right. (I still think a dark shoe with #3 will make it too heavy; nude is better for that one.)

I think that 3rd dress is suitable for a wedding if you want to go bigger and get it tailored, but I would take more photos of you in a larger size before you spend the money on the tailor. the eagle eyes here on the forum can help you determine if it would be worth the cost.

Love the first and third dresses especially, probably because of the colors. The first dress in particular (with the belt you added, not the self-belt) made me say WOW! It would be great to try to style the second dress up a bit to see how it works with some color.

I love all 3 dresses and you look amazing in them. If you can workout the armhole issue in the third one I'd go for it.

I love all three dresses as well. The tightness around the arm might be a nuisance for the third one so it's up to you to decide it it's actually comfy.

I am kind of on a roll with buying stuff but I need to follow it through and complete each outfit with accessories and a few different combinations. I need to get a few pairs of shoes so I should decide the best colour to go for.
I recently bought a fab pair of grey coloured shoes from nine west which are super comfy and I can easily wear them for nine hours without too many complaints. So back to Nine west for another look I'd say.

thanks Julie and Louise! Julie I love Angie's red shoes, I think they would work well for me, so perhaps I should start looking out for something similar. I think the blue dress might be getting its first outing tomorrow. I thought I could wear my grey shoes and the grey belt shown with dress no.1. I will wait and see what the weather is like first. We have been having some crazy rain recently!

Marianna, Dubai is a pretty awsome place to live. There is so much going on that no matter when I manage to get a babyistter and get out there is always something worth doing. On the other hand the weather is difficult during the summer months and seems to last forever. I also miss my family terribly, I often think how much easier things would be if I had my Mum around to help me with the little one. But I guess the pros out-weigh the cons! Thanks again for the comments ans advise. This weekend has been too busy, so I haven't been able to go back and look at the blue dress again. If its meant to be I will find time soon and it will still be on sale!! lol.
