new short short hairstyle - and how not to look masculine

Here is my new haircut. It is really short and I am not sure I like it. I think I'll go long now.
What do you think? Vote
In the meantime am trying to look feminine - breaking out the ruffles etc
Other suggestions welcome too

Yay! I think the cut is really cute, and you don't look masculine at all. Wear ruffles and frills if you want to of course, but you certainly won't need to.

I don't think you need to worry about looking masculine; just look at your features! You pull this off extremely well. You should use the time before your next trim to plan on going shorter.

Anne, you look adorable. I don't think you have to worry about looking masculine at all! If you feel you need to play up your feminine side, just do your makeup every day, big necklaces, etc. You could try going for 'lady like' in pearls and whatnot.

I always worry that I look masculine too. Half the time I don't do my makeup and I have tattoos. But then I remember my size. Er, boyish perhaps, but not masculine.

This is vey flattering on you and you definitely look feminine! I understand your worries because I'm tall and the last time I had very short hair a couple of years ago I got very sensitive about looking too masculine, think it's because my weird head is shaped longer than round. But your cut is stylish and feminine. I like the earrings in your picture, long but unobtrusive and not too much with your glasses.

This haircut is a winner!

Give yourself some time to get used to looking at yourself in the mirror...meanwhile you'll be soaking up compliments from everyone about your great new style. Soon you will love it, especially the low-maintenance aspect of very short hair.

You look great! I had very short hair for about 5 years and last August started growing it out. It is getting there finally.

For me, I always felt more feminine when I wore makeup (which I wear to work everyday) and a necklace (I can't wear earrings).

I think your new haircut is cool, and not at all masculine. You look confident and fashionable. I've had both long and short hair, and I think one of the keys to feeling comfortable with very short hair is believing that the cut truly reflects your personality. Does it feel like 'you'?

That said, sometimes it takes a while to get accustomed to a short haircut. Something in you led you to take this leap, so maybe this is the direction you want to go....but you aren't quite comfortable with it just yet? I'd give it a while and see how it feels. It'll be interesting to see if your clothing style changes to better show off the new hair.

Love the new haircut, I wouldn't worry about wearing overly feminine items to offset the short hair. It is very sexy and lady like as is.

As someone who has very short hair, I find that I need to spike the front in just the right way for it to look soft and girly. I also do not spike at all if my outfit is quite masculine.

Nancylee - I just wanted to try it out - okay secretly I think I wanted to look like Angie - but I have a square jaw and square shoulders. This photo was a fairly flattering one but it looks worse from other angles.

Perhaps I just need to get used to it.

The top layers are actually quite long, Anne, I don't see this as masculine at all! You have great features for a short cut - stand tall and enjoy!

Anne, this is a fun and spunky look on you. Not masculine at all. But I can relate to the fear of looking too boyish. I always worry I'll not have enough hair to offset my strong jaw and shoulder line (like you). Compare pics of yourself with different haircuts (at near the same weight, if possible, as I've found just a bit of a weight change can make my face look very different) and see which one looks the most flattering. Which one feels the most like you?

Your new haircut is really lovely Anne, I with recommend playing around with the styling until you find what you are most happy with, I have worn my shorter do straightened, wavy and messed with wax and feel most me with no product and blown straight.

You in no way could ever look masculine!!!!

anne, I think your hair is gorgeous! You do look beautiful and feminine in your photo. As others have suggested, play around with styling products and you'll find that short hair can be VERY versatile.

Show off your lovely neck with funky earrings and play with makeup. BONUS: with that great cut, you will NEVER have a bad hair day!

I've had ultra short hair for 20 years - it's my signature style - and I usually wear it spiked with Got 2 be 'glued.' Very fun!

Anne, I personally think that cut is incredible on you. I think the styling and the different layers helps it to look very feminine, but spunky and fun, and holy cow does it frame your face well. Your haircuts keep getting better and better!
