I suspect you have to scour daily to find something that tickles your fancy and is in your SIZE, since these are all one-off pieces. Well done, Nordies!

Prices are NOT thrift store and consignment store prices.

You can't collect the FINDS yet because it operates like a separate store - like the Rack. Hopefully, we can collect FINDS soon.

Thrilled to see this! And love the idea of reselling back to Nordstrom vs at Poshmark or the ThredUp. I buy so much from Nordies that it makes sense to resell there as well.

I had read about this ....curious that they have many sizes available in some items - like jeans. Wonder where they are sourcing their goods (yes, I did read the website and saw that they are taking items in NYC - but still...) These are consignment store prices where I live - so no surprises here. Glad I'm not shopping , or I'd be ordering denim like a mad person

Thanks Angie! I took a quick peak. For the moment I would say theRealReal is a better bet for designer consignment, but they are just getting started. I will be keeping my eye on them!

That is interesting. It looks like one can also sell gently used items to them but only at the NYC store and with an appointment. That would be a good way to recirculate gently worn items.

I like that the site gives measurements of the item but wish that touching the photo would bring up sizes available. It is a way of getting designer items at a great price if one knows their size for that brand.

not sure about this, i get why people shop this way, i've shopped this way, but not sure how this works for a retailer....

re how they are soursing their stock, i read somewhere that in addition to buying from customers, they are using this to sell some of the returns they have that are not resellable as "new".

Since reselling seems to be the wave of the future, I'm hoping this will influence sellers of fast fashion to make better quality clothing that can hold up through several owners. But maybe I'm being overly optimistic about that.

I love Nordie's for jumping into the reselling game, and helping the sustainability cause. May they reap big profits for their efforts!

I saw that my Macy's now has a Thredup section, though I didn't look closely. I only thrift online (eBay, i mean), so I really like the idea of a thrift store within a store to browse.

Interesting. I also wonder how these items are sourced, since it looks like certain things (I only clicked through on a couple, specifically denim) seem to be available in multiple sizes. I would definitely check this out, especially if I'm looking for something specific.

I am thinking that they may sell gently worn items from their clothing subscription business. That could help them with the unsold items from that business and also with the returns that are not in prime condition for sale as new.

Like thrift stores, goodwill, consignment and The Rack - you just have to keep on looking till you find a fabulous item.

kkards, I can't imagine Nordies losing on this new venture. They are winning somehow. Even if they lose in the short term, the message is very NOW and important.

Angie I’m sure your right, nordies wouldn’t lose on this, but will they win? If the aim is to increase their bread and butter business will this work? Or will this become a distraction? Or water down what sets them apart? It’s hard to take on a lot of initiatives at once (off the top of my head here’s the list I came up with just from the last couple of years expanding sizes, running the nyc store, changeing private label brands,entering the Canadian market, and trying to go private)

Figuring out what to do with worn returns or rental pieces past their prime is a laudable goal. Almost anything is better than throwing them in the dumpster, incinerator, etc.

Gear companies have been playing the resale game for a long time. REI is famous for their "garage sales" where you can get used equipment, along with scratch-and-dents, at a deep discount. Patagonia has a buy-back program called Worn Wear; it's an extension of their recycling program, which has been around for a long time. I think they were receiving wearable goods in their recycling intake and wanted to find a better (and more profitable) use for them.

Interesting! I will definitely be checking it out. It's hard to tell fit from the pictures but certain styles and brands might be easier.
