New Shooties - frumpy or passable?

These are Naot's. Not known for big style. These would be casual, and maybe cross over for days when my feet are sore on work days. Mostly to be worn with skinny or straight-leg jeans.

What do you think?

Well, you can kind of see how the toe goes up at the end? And the toe is VERY round. I can't wear them with wider legs because then all you see is the round toe...and it's not very cute.

They remind me a little bit of my Josef Siebel booties (which happen to be among the most comfortable shoes I've ever owned.) I have mixed feelings about the appearance. Sometimes they look and feel frumpy to me, and sometimes they actually look funky! It just depends.

I don't mind these at all for your purpose, especially if they truly meet the comfort test. I think I would prefer them with another colour of pant, but that might just be the way my monitor is showing them.

actually, i really like them...i didn't expect to, but i really really do. i think it's the heel shape sells it to me. curvy not clumpy.

It helps that the heel is not clunky and the shoes have some shine. So you're getting the best of both, comfy and I don't think they're frumpy.

I like them! I am a big fan of Naots in any case. So comfy and I actually like their funky chunky vibe. These are actually more streamlined than most, better for your style I think. I have some very similar looking burgundy booties that are quite versatile.

I think these look fine for the purpose you intend - I have a pair of Naot shoes and a pair of Naot boots and they are among my most comfortable and well made footwear.

runnerRae, that was my thought process as well - the non-shine version of these, which they have on Zappos, is not something I would wear...they have a video of it. I think OFF the foot they look OK, but ON the foot this super round toe - I just have a poison eye for it. But I think if I stick to pants that show the entire shoe they'll be OK.

They are very comfy, but I wore them with very short socks to walk to dinner yesterday and they rubbed on the back of my foot! )-: On the one foot where I wear my PF sleeve, which comes up higher on my ankle, there was no rubbing, so I think I just need to wear them with socks that come up past the edge of the shoe, at least till they break in.

They look more than fine to me. But I don't mind an upturned toe- I actually like it a bit better than the long and pointy look (more comfy too!)

Anna, neither am I! That's why I posted them. I mean, for the record, the only other pair of Naot's I own are a pair of sneakers that I wore for touring Paris and Berlin, which I now wear to beer festivals and for riding my bike...

I don't wear Fidji's (my mom's favorite, though!) or Joseph Sibels...OTOH, I have started running again (only 2 miles, intervals training, and paying close attention to foot pain) and need a shoe that is TRULY supportive or my feet will get bad again. It's taken me a year to recover enough to be able to run again, so I am NOT willing to let that happen...a lot of that has to do with resting enough (I'm a type A person who likes to go gung-ho but I've learned my lesson). But also having supportive shoes that I can wear on off days is important. Right now, my old Naot's (which are very casual not to mention beat up) and my Birk's are the only shoes I have that fit that bill.

I just wish Naot would make something a LITTLE bit more stylish. Like, even a more squared off toe would be great... )-:

ETA - oh, and, these were on sale plus I used a Nordy note, so they were like $75 which is a steal for Naots.

Hmm I think they're OK but they don't quite jive with either your urban side nor your romantic side to me. But for a "comfort shoe" they look quite good, you know? I'm a bit torn.

Aida, yes, that is the problem. I went back and looked through the acceptable options and didn't see anything else that appealed to me that had this good of a quality to price ratio...so I think I'll keep 'em. Hubby doesn't like them very much, but he understands about the foot thing, and they're better than wearing Keens or hiking boots...or Birkenstock shoes!

I think that they're a great choice between comfort and style. I 'get it'. When you can't run it sucks. I wore my Birks for way too long last year after rolling my ankle. Now I can barely stand them. But I also now look for shoes under 3" and with padding and all the other things that never occurred to me beyond 'oh those are soooo cute!'

They are the Allure style. A bit of a heel but it's very stable and there is a platform in front. They look MUCH better on the foot than they do in stock photos.

Jenava, these are a little different for you but given your reasoning for choosing these, I think they are fine. They are certainly not unattractive, must not as "sharp" as your usual style. I do think they are more than passable and there are times where practicality must be considered. You have fab style and no doubt will make this work beautifully.

I have some shoes in this category: A- for chic but A for comfort. I like these ones for the purpose you describe and predict you would be grateful to have them for those days when you need something like this. If you are really unhappy style-wise though, I would get some flat or low heeled biker boots or cowboy boots and pop a great insole into them. If you want a bit more of a heel and a delicate shape like these ones have, I think you need this shoe. That is the choice as I see it.
Definitely would not call these frumpy though.

Not a big fan of them. To be honest, I don't like them at all. But I totally understand your circumstances and why you want to wear them, so I don't want to be a naysayer. I only think they'd look way better with flared trousers.

Scarlet - I actually already have a pair of flat booties that I wear an insole in but they just aren't supportive enough on days when my feet are giving me trouble - it's the arch support that I need. Heel height isn't too much of a problem.

RH - thanks for your feedback! I actually would never wear these with something that covered the shoe because I have a poison eye for round-toed shoes with wide hems. For me, the stubby round toe peaking out just looks even more frumpy. I prefer when you can see the whole shoe if the toe is very round.
