I bought two new pairs last Friday--a pair of black sneakers and a pair of black booties with a low, chunky heel and a pointed toe that isn't too narrow, and this one simple, inexpensive change has brought new life to my outfits.

I NEEDED the sneakers because my Converse are beginning to disintegrate after being well loved for a couple years, and I've been looking for the perfect basic pair of booties for a few years now to replace the last pair I owned. Payless had both of those things, and a store-wide buy one get one half off sale. Both pairs are solid black (my preferred shoe color because my hair is such a dark brown that most people perceive it as black), have super comfy soles, are easy to walk in, and are great for transitioning to cooler weather. I have walked quite a bit in both pairs, and they're great.

My other cool weather shoes include two pairs of boots--a heavy pair of combat boots, and a lightweight pair of lace-up boots, both black. I'm hoping to acquire a gray pair of boots this season and a pair of gray jeans because I'm working on gray as another neutral for fall/winter, and maybe a black pair of loafers, but those are lower priority. Other than that, I'm officially set on cool weather shoes and ready to enjoy the variety of looks I can create with what I have.
