new shoes!

Although I am planning a big shopping trip in a couple of days, somehow I ended up buying some new shoes today!
There are Riversoft and at my local Rivers Clearance store.http://www.rivers.com.au/catal.....#038;PS=22

The colour bookends my glasses, the style means they will stay on and they are reasonably comfortable.

I can't take them back, and I think they will be acceptable for wearing under bootcuts, which is the main wardrobe hole I was hoping to fill. (Though I'll need new bootcuts as the heel is a little higher than my previous shoes.) Do you think they can be worn with skirts and dresses as well or do they just look too much like granny shoes?

Not grannish at all IMO, though I did buy some Hotter shoes yesterday at the same time as my 95 year old nan so you may want to take my opinion with a generous pinch of salt!! X

I love them. A little retro, and a lot whimsical, yet also looks supportive and sturdy. Plus a great colour for your existing wardrobe, especially as it matches your glasses! Awfully cute, and a great comprise between high vamp and low with the central opening --- I'd certainly try them with skirts and dresses, and they look really good with that skirt there.

By the way, we may be skirt twins! I think I had the identical skirt in pale yellow until I snagged and ripped it a couple of months ago.

I think they're great shoes, Anne -- wonderful for Autumn and a warm, vibrant color. And comfort is huge! How can we look fab when our toes are in agony!

Cool retro shoes, Anne! I hope they are comfortable. And I do think they will work with skirts and dresses, although will probably be best with hose and a skirt in the same or similar colour value (not necessarily the same colour, but another dark) to lengthen the leg line.

Anne these are fabulous. Great with bootleg jeans and skirts and dresses. In love the color. I may have to go check these out myself as I really like them. I think these will be a great addition to your winter wardrobe.

Just out of interest why can't you return them? I have returned sale items to Rivers before.

Deborah - I could be wrong, I though there were signs up in Rivers saying no returns. In this case I had taken the tags off anyway. Glad you like them!

Thanks Angie - now for these "right variables", let me see if I can guess? Are you talking about the hose issue Suz mentioned. Would length of skirt be another one? I am sure there are heaps but I am just trying to nail the basics

I love them Anne! I could really see them with a dark denim skirt. Do you have one? When it gets cooler they would look great with dark tights and dark skirt of almost any color! And you could try them with skinnies, too. These are not the kind of shoes you have to *hide* under bootcuts at all!

Thanks Angie and Claire!! Lots of ideas there Claire! I do have a denim skirt Claire, though it is 4 years old ( one of my first YLF purchases) so not that dark now!

Loving that you guys like them. I was shopping with my 3 daughters (4, 6 and 8) and none of them liked them at all! But I am happy to go with the more informed YLF opinion!

Oh good grief! That's amazing! Because I could swear mine's the same pattern of fabric and similarly lined --- guessing it is cotton? And it's the same length (on you, so actually mine must be shorter) and shape too! What a coincidence! As if the same skirt turning up in shops here and there weren't enough...!

Incidentally, you're clearly very skilled --- those embroidered fabrics are tricky to work with -- and I'm jealous.

Oh not skilled at all - I am at a very basic level and just did an elastic waist at the top. I didn't find the broderie anglaise hard to work with (I did line with cotton). It was much easier that than the 2 garments I made at the same time from stretch fabrics that are basically ruined already. But thanks for the compliment

I really like those shoes on you - it took me forever to adapt to a round toe and now that I love them I can't find a pair that fit. Yours will be perfect for your Fall/Winter.
