New Shoes - YouLookFab Forum

I have really struggled recently finding comfortable shoes. I have over the last 6 weeks or so really tried to resolve this, so that my feet feel comfy all the way through the day, and I look okay.

The throbbing in my feet at night has been keeping me awake sometimes. Soaking my feet in heavily salted water really helps, and I've stopped wearing my super high patent heels.

Here is the first of my purchases. Although quite boyish in their styling, they do have a little bit of a higher heel than a mans brogue.

I would welcome your thoughts. Do you think the laces are the right colour? I wondered whether to get darker ones. Do you think it is going to be okay to wear them with dark tights and a skirt for wearing to and from the office? Also, you have any experience and tips with leather soles and how long I need to wear them before I have rubber soles fitted.

I really like them and I like how you've styled them here. I think they'll definitely work with tights and a skirt. I've seen that done a lot. I always admire these shoes but haven't gotten any for myself. Re laces, I think they're fine. Darker as in the same color as the shoe may be ok, or even darker as a contrast but I do like the color you chose.

LOVE. Love love love that style of shoe. Borrowed from the boys, but tweaked so they look a bit more feminine. The laces are great with that colour shoe. I hope they work out for you. Sorry to hear you have sore feet.

abc, thank you so much; thank you for your thoughts re wearing them with a skirt - I will post a photo soon with skirt and shoes and will wear with confidence. On laces, I can always get darker ones later, but again, your thoughts give reassurance.

Thank you Ledonna! Thank you Tanya - I think the other colour was a deep green, and I thought the tan was going to be more flexible, so good to hear that you like the colour.

Aziraphale, thank you ! Sore feet are very distracting to being able to function normally! I underestimated the pain, but I won't any more and now I take the comfort of my feet very seriously!

I think these shoes are really beautiful. I like them with the tights and a skirt. I would probably put in darker laces, though. The laces really stand out, when I think the shoes should be standing out. That's just my opinion. The shoes are still beautiful.

I have a couple pairs of wingtip oxfords. The first pair came with thick black laces and I changed them to thin grey laces. The other pair I haven't worn yet, it's still hot here. But the laces are tan and I might change them to grey, too.

The shoes are fab Jane! I have some oxfords in a similar colour with more of a heel, but similar vibe. Mine do however have darker laces and I have to say I think I'd prefer to see darker ones in yours too.

Ooh, brogues...love them. Good colour, too, bookend your hair. I like the laces with denim. With opaque tights dark laces might look better.

You can have rubber soles fitted right now, I always have them fitted on new shoes. I've heard the walk-a-few-times-with-them-first-so-the-leather-sole-adapt-to-your-feet theory, but when I asked my cobbler about it he shrugged and said it didn't matter.

Bummer about sore feet, that is no fun at all. These are cute, I'm another vote for darker laces.

I have several pairs of oxfords, and along with the "tights/skirt" option, I like to wear them with jeans rolled up and sockless (footies). I went WILD at cole haan (I think?) and bought about 5 pairs of mens shoe laces in FUN FUN colors: powder blue, lime green, hot pink, etc. and I get a kick out of changing the laces to fun colors. I think it feminizes the shoes a bit.... But, bottom line, I love them!

Sorry to hear about your foot pain. The shoes look really nice. I'd like darker laces.

I really like this style, and would experiment with a darker lace.

Such good understanding of the laces. I understand now why the shoes read slightly strange to my eye - the lighter lace, stands out rather than the shoe.

Thank you Skylurker, yes, they match my hair! Thank you for the tip on rubber soles, I will get those fitted shortly. I am glad that you think putting them on now is a good idea. I think so too, and the chap in the shop didn't really think it made too much difference.
