Hello Fabbers, I have updated my pic and am using my real name from here forward. Star was part of the name of my business I ran for 25 years from which I retired 10 years ago. Time to move forward and you wonderful people deserve transparency too. Can't get more transparent than a make up free selfie now can you

Interesting hearing the story behind the name Star, but it's great to know you as Lise now.

My profile name is the nickname most of my friends and family know me as, so it feels very comfortable for me using it here too.

Thank you everyone! ANGIE it is Danish although I have no Danish blood. My parents had very close Danish friends when I was born. My parents pronounced it Leeza but I started introducing myself as Lisa in my early teens. I preferred the shorter softer version for myself.

My second daughter’s name is Elise. My husband chose it, he loves Beethoven and the piano piece, and we had come across a nice young woman with the name when I was pregnant. It’s actually French we think? We have Anglicised the pronunciation. But the funniest thing is that she now has a French boyfriend for 2.5 years, and we wonder if it’s sort of fate?! They met here, he immigrated here but is from Aix-en-Provence in the South of France.

Thanks JENNI! My first boss was Elise and I think you are correct about the French roots. It is a fairly common name in South Africa and there are quite a number of French descendants there. Not overly common though. Maybe her name drew his interest initially. Fate it could be.
