New Pants : Have I Lost My Mind?

Hi Ladies,

I feel I need to explain this purchase:) I love wearing black and my neutrals but every now and again I do like to put on something a little different and with some colour.

I saw these pants on sale (possibly out came the goggles) and liked the animal print and the multi colours.

They are too long and I have simply folded the hem under. It's not right as you can see the length is causing 'scunching' in the leg. Folded up properly they do fall smoothly. They are a slim leg.

I styled them pretty much how I would envisage wearing them... if I wear them:)

Are they terrible?

I like them on you, and it's nice to see some color mixed in with the blacks. Are they suitable for your coming Spring?

Denise, yes they are very suitable for our Spring. I was thinking they might work with a light weight jacket I have ordered that should be here this week. It's pictured below.

Wow! I like these and I don't care for a lot of prints. Some of the printed pants look like pj's but these look sophisticated to me, especially with the black.

I love the pants. I'm not sure that I like them with black shoes/black top. That seems old fashioned to me.

I actually really like them Deborah - they are a nice little punch of colour in your wardrobe. I vote to keep.

I like them very much, too! They could turn out to act for you like my silk tunic does for me - I was very hesitant towards it at first, as you might remember, but it DOES work with so much in my wardrobe, and it is fun to have a wild card like that to play with. Color-wise these seem to fit well into your wardrobe. I can easily imagine them with your white booties.

No, you haven't lost your mind but I suspect you are exercising the hemisphere, left or right, that you normally don't favour.

I bought a pair of printed pants last spring & they ended up being a real work-horse for me. I know your tolerance for all black is way higher than mine but I think particularly for summer it is nice to have some options. These break that all black look while retaining your clothing "vibe" imo. SO that is a very long-winded way of saying yes keep

Wearing these with white footwear & a white top & jacket would look very you & modern too imo

Pattern placement!
AND- whilst I love the idea of patterned pants for Spring/Summer, I can see you in a more daring harem-style with deliberate drape and tapered hems.

Lyn I laughed so loud Master 10 wanted to know what was so funny! I had t noticed:). You are spot on re harem pants, that is exactly what I am looking for. Found some but not quite what i am after, what I really want are Rick Owens harem leggings...in my dreams:)

I vote "yes with a longer top"--unless they have another pair in the same size, which you can analyse for more fortunate pattern placement. But I've just purchased a pair for myself, so you can chalk my vote up to bias.

I tried on about 7 pair over the weekend at Myer, for various definitions of "harem". I I liked the fit of these: http://www.myer.com.au/shop/my.....akura-pant, and they may be more you than me.

I was going to be a big yay vote, but "what is seen cannot be unseen," as they say, and now all I see is the companion to the print skirt Diana tried on a while back! So I vote yes with longer top or yes to exchange for another pair.

Still, I like them, and think they could be workhorses for you. At that price, keep and experiment.

I don't see pattern placement issues, and I think these could be a nice piece to add counterpoint to your black capsule. Could be great with white too!

I think they are a keep. I would not have noticed an issue with the pattern placement but I do see it now
However, IRL I don't think it's a problem and I think the colors work well for you.

I have no love at all for these kinds of pant...really I have zero love for printed pants of any kind. I see clown pants and pajamas when I look at this kind of pant.. So I just can't love them...sorry!

Lots of people wear them and love them, so this is not an objective judgement of bad...just saying I can't vote keep because I really dislike them in general.

I am a little bit hesitant Deborah, whilst I think the trousers look fab I don't particularly like how they look with your signature colour black. To my eye they would pair better with white and grey.

Thank you all for your thoughts. I appreciate both the yays and the nays and the suggestions. I am on the fence, which I guess is why I asked, so I will think on it, but I think they might go back. There is a pair of pants am eyeing off that Cocolion featured in a WIW recently and I think I might be wise to maintain my focus.

I was interested by these pants because I'm actually specifically looking for items in blue/black/white/possibly gray that I can wear with black (and denim and cobalt). I think Rachy's observation that they don't quite work with black might be right--the overall impression is too light. I vote for looking for a colored print that tones well with black, as black is such a wardrobe backbone for you.
