Hi all, just wanted to share a new and meaningful opportunity that has come up for me ... I've turned to you all for career advice in the past as I've waffled and wavered, and so thought I'd better share the good outcomes!
As some of you know, I do freelance work as a virtual assistant with a focus on marketing support as needed. I have several clients that I enjoy working with. It's not a lot of hours, but enough that I can shop without feeling like a drain on the family, make donations, and keep my brain sharp.
Through that network, I will now be working with a start up cancer research foundation. It focused on a rare cancer type that doesn't receive tons of attention, and is working both with patients to provide support, as well as with doctors to facilitate their access to new research, trials, etc. I'll be helping them with social media, communications, and whatever they might need me to put a hand to. It will just be a couple of hours a week, but I am hoping that since they are growing, I might be able to expand my role over the next few years, as my kids get older and start moving towards university (!!).
Anyways, it's a meaningful opportunity given my connection to cancer through my Mom's journey, and one I would happily do for free (they wouldn't accept my offer!!) so to be paid for it is an added bonus.
Thanks so much for letting me share!
