I am loving the favorites feature in the forums. Nice Work!

Any new conversations on my 2nd page 'of latest' aren't highlighted with a green dot like on the 1st page

Louise, that is expected. The unread post system only tracks the items in the first page.

Glad to know it's not a bug x

I just caught myself smiling while going through the home page on my tea break right now and I just had to pop in and let Angie and Greg know how much I love this new layout. Angie's favourite colors brighten up my breaks and there is just enough information on the page to make me feel connected (without being overwhelming) even when I'm running short on time to actually participate in the forum. Thanks again you two for being all so simply fabulous! (Hugs)

P.S. Being able to "favourite" a post is a wish come true!

Just FYI, new blog posts since the site update aren't coming up in my blog reader anymore - and I checked to make sure that I was still subscribed to the RSS feed. Don't know if that's a temporary problem that will update once everything has propagated.

Greg, great job on the blog and forum! Photo uploading is the most valuable feature!
However I have found a bug for you (can you tell I am a software engineer?:-))
I did a post a couple of days ago and uploaded 2 pictures in it. However when I went into it today one of my pictures was gone and replaced with Boof's picture.
This is the post's link:

The picture in question is #1.

Hi Sveta, yes, that's very odd. I'll investigate. Thanks for pointing it out.

Do you happen to know where Boof posted that picture?

Thanks
Greg

Yep - here:
http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....t-up-a-bit
I should have provided this in the first post - need to work on my "ticket opening" skills

Mystery solved. There was a bug in my code that ensures a unique filename for the uploaded image and as a result, Boof's image replaced yours. I'm sorry about that.

I removed the database entry for the photo that was overwritten, so now there is only one photo in your post. If you aren't able to edit the post and you would like me to add it back in, let me know using a private message.

Again, sorry that my bug ate your photo.

Hi Greg,

I just wanted to point out a possible bug in this thread: http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....-to-keep-1

Thanks, Greg! Don't worry about the photo as it was an older post. I just wanted to let you know about this problem so you can fix it. Than was a quick turnaround!

Marianna, yes, something strange going on there. Will investigate.

Just a thought Greg, would it possible to have something flag up on the forum page when a new blog post goes live? This has never occurred to me before until seeing the red new badges on the home page. I know you have an aversion to clutter so no worries if you think it may be a bad idea, I think it may provide another link between the forum and blog.

In another thread, we were talking about how light some of the print is. I'm finding that the reply box and add photo box are also very light and bothering my eyes. Maybe it's just the juxtaposition of the bright background and the light gray, but I wanted to mention it.

Thanks chewyspaghetti. I think I understand what you mean about "Add a Photo", but can you explain what is light about "the reply box"? Do you mean the background itself?

Also, can you point me to the thread you mention?

R&J, that's a nice idea and something I will do at some point. And I think it can be done without creating too much clutter.

The outline of the reply box is extremely light for me
Here's the thread:

I've wondered for some time if there's a better/quicker way of getting information from the blog archives. The Search feature searches the forum as well as the blog posts and often you can't get directly to something - there is a recent forum thread about finding the blog post about 'capsules' for example.

I've suddenly realised there could be a relatively easy way of doing this by simply changing the 'category' list on the blog archive page into related sections rather than listing alphabetically. So one group could be like this:

Body Type
Fuller Figure
Individual Style
Frugal Style
Instant Style Tips
Team X Team Y
Colour
Style journeys

Another could be:

Outfits
Dress Codes
Wedding wear
Travel
Partywear
MOTG
Casual wear
Career wear
Business Casual
Event wear
Cheat Sheets

and then all of the season posts could be grouped together (eg Summer 2007 with Autumn 2007 rather than the first under 'S' and the second under 'A') and all of the 'clothes' posts together (bottoms, tops, dresses, swimwear etc).

It would still have the same links, but people might find it easier to decide where to start looking, particularly new users. Do you think this might work?

Hi Greg
There seems to be a new glitch that I've just noticed today. When I log in and click on one of the forum threads, every time I press the back button to go back to the 'latest' page I find I'm logged out and have to log in again. I'm using Safari. Thanks!

firefly, that's not good! I don't see the same thing using Safari. Can you let me know what platform (Windows or Mac OSX) and what version of Safari you are using when you see this problem?

Alternatively, just send me a message using the contact form: http://youlookfab.com/contact-us/

That will tell me what you are using.

thunalata, yes, we can improve the grouping and that is on the list. Thanks for the ideas on how to do so and please keep them coming.

On search: With the new site you can search in any part of the site separately. The search box searches the following areas on the different pages

- home page: searches the whole site
- blog: searches blog only
- forum: searches forum only
- store: searches store only
- backstage: searches backstage only

Note the word just above the search box that tells you where it is searching.

Thanks for the reply Greg, but whatever was happening it seems to have sorted itself out now. If it helps, I'm on Mac OSX, and Safari version 4.1.2.

Hi Greg

I've still not found that ******* computer cable so I don't have a screen shot.

I'm using IE8 and windows vista and on this thread Kim's response changes case in the middle which looks really odd.
http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....f-the-time
I thought you may like to know.

Strange as it may seem, this is expected.

Kim used a backquote instead of a normal quote and the system thinks she is trying to format that piece as code.

<code>like this</code>

The backquote is that quote character normally up near the top left of the keyboard. If you use the normal single or double quotes (just to the left of the enter or return key), this won't happen.
